VIDEO: Duck Dynasty star gives CHL team slowest pep talk ever
Mountain Man of Duck Dynasty came in to give the Allen Americans a pre-game pep talk. What resulted was the slowest motivational speech in history, perhaps.
The Central Hockey League's Allen Americans will be hosting an Olympics Night on Friday where the team will wear replicas of the USA jerseys from the 1980 Miracle on Ice. In keeping with that theme, kind of, the Americans invited a celebrity guest to deliver a pep talk to the team earlier this week.
Using the lines made famous in Kurt Russell’s portrayal of former Team USA head coach Herb Brooks in Disney’s Miracle, Ducky Dynasty’s Mountain Man gave one of the slowest, drawliest pre-game speeches you’ll ever hear.
This speech puts a new twist on the dramatic pause.
Most of the players failed to keep a straight face, but that only aided the bit. Some even left mid-speech. The ones that actually stuck around for the whole speech seemed fired up though only by the time they got out there, the game was already over.
It’s a rather enjoyable bit of marketing from the folks in Allen.
In addition to wearing the 1980 replicas Friday, the team also invited bobsledder Johnny Quinn, who you may recall came to fame in Sochi for using his bobsled push to break through his jammed bathroom door. He is scheduled to be on hand for autographs.
