VIDEO: Jhonas Enroth robs Claude Giroux with blocker save
Anything Ryan Miller do, Jhonas Enroth can apparently do better. The Sabres goalie absolutely robbed Claude Giroux with a blocker save sans stick on Tuesday night.
There's something going on right now with the Buffalo Sabres' goalies and desperation saves.
On Sunday in Washington, Ryan Miller used his paddle to knock the puck out of the air and keep it out of the back of his net in a true candidate for the save of the season. His creasemate Jhonas Enroth apparently was determined not to be outdone.
On Tuesday night at home against the Flyers, Philadelphia was on the attack. Claude Giroux was busy doing Claude Giroux things and dragged the puck across the defensive zone, creating a traffic jam in front and delaying Enroth's lateral movement to cover the now open side of the cage. Making matters worse, he lost his stick in the pileup.
So when Giroux shot the puck there looked to be absolutely no chance Enroth would stop it, but he did, using his blocker to just deflect the puck wide and away from harm.
Could Giroux have put the puck in a better position? Sure, especially considering he got help getting the puck on net with a deflection in front, but he was on his backhand (where he can do things like this). Just don't let that take away from a tremendous save by Enroth.
