The Boston Bruins couldn't beat Jimmy Howard in 60 minutes of play in Game 1, losing the opener to the Red Wings 1-0. The trick was getting Howard and the Wings to beat themselves.

To alleviate some pressure and get some fresh bodies on the ice, the Red Wings dumped the puck back in their zone toward Howard. The play seemed simple enough and Howard came out to play the puck along to defenseman Brendan Smith.

Except the two weren't on the same page, Howard's pass went off the skate of Smith and right to the lone Bruins anywhere near the puck, rookie Justin Florek, who had an open net with Howard out of position. He was able to put the puck home despite Howard's split-save attempt.

So that could have gone better for Detroit.

Florek, by the way, played in just four games this regular season with a goal and an assist. It should be obvious, then, that this was his first career Stanley Cup playoffs goal. It will be a snipe in his stories some day.
