VIDEO: Johnny Boychuk ties game late with rocket slapshot
Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk tied Game 1 late in the third period with an absolute blast from the point. He capped it with a rather great goal celebration, too.
Johnny Boychuk is known for shooting a hockey puck very hard and very accurately. With less than two minutes separating the Bruins from a Game 1 loss, Boychuck got the puck on his stick with room to shoot. Note to the Canadiens, never give this man room to shoot.
Boychuk made it count with a heavy slapshot from the center point. Loui Eriksson just got out of the way and P.K. Subban didn’t even have time to get in front of it. Had he, it could have killed him. The puck flew in the net just under the bar, tying the game and leading to Boychuk’s rather fantastic celebration.
Is that gloved finger guns? I can get on board with that. There's actually a lot going on there in that celebration. When you shoot the puck that hard, you can pretty much do whatever you want though.
The Bruins forced overtime by scoring all three goals in the third period, erasing deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 along the way.
