Jonas Gustavsson made one of the most ridiculous saves of the season to date and this one could hold up as the save of the year.

After getting the puck bounced off his own back, the Detroit Red Wings netminder reached back and swatted the puck away from what should have been a sure goal for the New Jersey Devils. Lucky? Maybe a little, but no less incredible.

The goaltender known as "The Monster" has been really good for Detroit this year when spelling starter Jimmy Howard. Gustavsson has a .929 save percentage and 2.16 goals-against average in nine appearances this season. He also hasn't lost a game in regulation yet with a 7-0-1 record.

With Howard struggling a bit this season, Gustavsson has been coming up big often for the Red Wings, but this save might be his best play yet.

Here's another angle.
