VIDEO: Matt Duchene motors past Karl Alzner for pretty goal
Matt Duchene is quickly becoming one of the more exciting young talents in the West. His goal against the Washington Capitals Saturday is further proof.
In the first period Saturday night, Duchene was up to his usual speedy, skilled self as he gave his team a 2-0 lead over the Washington Capitals.
After taking the puck down the right wing, Duchene made the reeling Karl Alzner look more like a traffic cone as he wheeled to the net. Duchene faked as though he would go inside, then took the puck back out leaving Alzner helpless and goalie Michal Neuvirth without a chance as he roofed the puck from in close.
Duchene's speed is really something. This is the second time in as many games it's been on full display as Duchene also blew past multiple players for an empty-net goal Thursday night against the Bruins.
The goal was Duchene’s third on the season.
