VIDEO: Nathan MacKinnon speeds through Wild for spectacular goal
Nathan MacKinnon scored a dazzling goal in Game 2 Saturday night, making moves so good they made Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon fall over.
Nathan MacKinnon is ridiculous. A mere 18 years old and it seems like this kid has the league figured out. After a spectacular Game 1 performance against the Minnesota Wild, MacKinnon apparently was just getting warmed up.
With the Avalanche trailing 1-0 early in the first period, MacKinnon took a pass from Paul Stastny and just started motoring. He flew through the neutral zone, made a few subtle moves that crossed up Jared Spurgeon so much he fell down and then wired a shot over Ilya Bryzgalov for his first career playoff goal.
MacKinnon now has four points in his first two career playoff games after a three-assist night in Game 1. The No. 1 overall selection won’t turn 19 until just before next season and he’s off to a flying start already.
MacKinnon was a big-time performer for the Halifax Mooseheads in the postseason as well. Last year at the Memorial Cup, MacKinnon had 13 points in four games. Four.
Seems like young MacKinnon may be built for these kind of games.
