VIDEO: P.A. Parenteau scores after two Predators run into each other

NHL previews: Atlantic Division | Metropolitan Division | Central Division | Pacific Division

After a six-goal outburst in their home opener, the Avalanche probably don’t need much help with scoring, but they got a little from the Nashville Predators Friday night.

While in the Avalanche zone, Predators forward Matt Hendricks appeared to lose an edge. He went sliding right into teammate Paul Gaustad who was tripped up by the sprawling Hendricks. The collision led to Gaustad turning the puck over and a Colorado rush going the other direction.

Both Hendricks and Gaustad appeared shaken on the play and were slow to get to the bench, leaving Nashville shorthanded as Colorado came streaking into the Predator’s zone.

Out-numbered five-to-three essentially, there wasn’t enough manpower for Nashville to cover the swarming Avs. P.A. Parenteau knocked home the rebound off a Jamie McGinn shot and gave the Avalanche the 1-0 lead late in the first period.

The Avalanche line of Parenteau, McGinn and No. 1 overall pick Nathan MacKinnon has been dynamic through two games. The rookie sensation MacKinnon, who earned an assist on Parenteau's goal, already has three helpers through his first two NHL games.

Hendricks and Gaustad did return to the game in the second period.
