VIDEO: Patrick Kane returns to Buffalo, scores highlight-reel goal
Patrick Kane was back in Buffalo on Sunday night, his hometown, and he celebrated with one beautiful goal against the Sabres.
And it apparently brings out the best in ol' Kaner.
Kane was in a bit of a slump by his standards that began at the Olympics with Team USA. He went goalless in that tournament and it carried over to the NHL, going without a goal since the season resume. Until Sunday night against the Sabres, that is.
Kane did what he does best which is to make opponents look like junior players with some slick moves. It would just have been a nice play if he didn't then fire home a shot from the high slot by using the defenseman as a screen and firing against the grain.
The game might have beeen a home game for the Sabres but the goal sent the Buffalo crowd into a loud roar as Blackhawks fans clad in red and black cheered.
Thanks to the new schedule in the NHL, Kane won't have to wait years at a time to play a game in Buffalo, he'll visit every year. That might not be great news for the Sabres.
The 38-year-old defenseman had been on the free agent market since July 1
