VIDEO: Stephane Robidas fractures leg in Game 3, taken to hospital
Ducks defenseman Stephane Robidas was sent to the hospital in Game 3 after an awkward collision with Ryan Garbutt resulted in a fractured right leg.
Robidas, who suffered a broken leg earlier this season while a member of the Stars, got tangled with Ryan Garbutt and went down very awkwardly and remained down in obvious pain before being helped off the ice, unable to put weight on his leg.
After the period the Ducks updated Robidas' status and it was awful news.
INJURY UPDATE: #NHLDucks Robidas has a fractured right leg, just above the previous fracture, and is being sent to the hospital.— Anaheim Ducks (@AnaheimDucks) April 22, 2014
Oof, that's just awful. Brutal for him, brutal for the Ducks.
Robidas only played 14 games for the Ducks this season after being dealt at the trade deadline but he's been very good for Anaheim down the stretch and then in the first two playoff games. He had a goal and four assists in those 14 games while playing 21:37 of ice time, a number that came down a bit to 20:07 per game in the first two playoff games.
The injury itself was terrible but it was pretty excellent of the Stars fans to give Robidas, a longtime Star, a standing ovation and chant his name as he was helped off the ice. It just goes to show how much he was respected in Dallas for his years of service to the Stars.
