John Scott: Retiring from hockey
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott announced his retirement Wednesday, The Players' Tribune reports.

Scott became the center of the hockey world last season when fans voted him into the 2015-16 All-Star Game. As perhaps one of the last true enforcers in an ever-changing game, Scott racked up 544 PIM in 286 NHL contests. Along with his time in the sin bin, the winger snagged five goals and six assists while playing for seven different organizations. Undrafted out of Michigan Tech, the 34-year-old's career likely would have ended in obscurity if not for one shining moment that all started as a joke, but transformed into something amazing.

Canadiens' John Scott: Season over after leaving team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott's season is over, as he left the team Tuesday, LNH.com's Arpon Basu reports.

He was given the choice between remaining with the team, or heading home, and he chose the latter, as he probably wasn't going to play much over the rest of the season.

Canadiens' John Scott: Recalled by Habs
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott was summoned from the AHL St. John's affiliate Sunday.

Even if Scott were to draw into the lineup, it shouldn't have much of an impact on the scorebook or in fantasy leagues. The veteran winger collected just four points in 27 games with the AHL affiliate, with most of his value coming from the physical nature of his play.

Canadiens' John Scott: Habs add All Star
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott was acquired from the Coyotes, along with Victor Bartley, in exchange for Jarred Tinordi, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

As if John Scott being an All-Star wasn't comical enough, he has now been traded out of the Pacific Division, which he had been voted to captain during the All-Star Game. Scott remains an irrelevant fantasy option, but there is no word on whether he will have to take PK Subban's spot in the All-Star Game.

Coyotes' John Scott: Reassigned to AHL Springfield on Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott was reassigned to AHL Springfield on Wednesday, Sportsnet's John Shannon reports.

Scott was demoted Wednesday to make room for recently claimed Kevin Connauton on the Yotes' 23-man roster. Arizona will reportedly recall Scott in the near future, however, so that the 33-year-old winger can attend the 2016 NHL All-Star Game as the captain of the Pacific Division team in late January. Scott has tallied a single assist in 11 games with the Coyotes this season.

Coyotes' John Scott: Clears waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott cleared waivers Monday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Scott will remain with the team for the time being, but he'll likely head back to the AHL. The winger has appeared in just two games with the parent club this season, failing to record a point in both.

Coyotes' John Scott: Placed on waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott was placed on waivers by the Coyotes on Sunday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Scott seen action in just two contests for the Coyotes, and was placed on waivers earlier in the season but stayed with the club. It seems likely that he'll be sent to the AHL if he goes unclaimed this time around.

Arizona Coyotes' John Scott clears waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

John Scott cleared waivers Friday, Craig Morgan of AZ Central reports.

Scott passed through waivers unclaimed, so he'll remain with the Coyotes for the time being, though he'll likely land in the AHL in the near future.

Arizona Coyotes' John Scott Placed on Waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scott was placed on waivers Thursday,TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

The veteran enforcer will likely clear waivers and report to the Portland Pirates of the AHL. Scott offered very little fantasy value other than his ability to rack up penalty minutes. There is a chance he may end up on another NHL roster, but that is still to be seen.

Scott signed a one-year (one-way) contract with the Coyotes on Friday.Scott has never been a fantasy relevant player during his eight year NHL career, and it's doubtful that will change in Arizona. His fantasy value is limited to penalty minutes, but he doesn't get enough playing time to rack up penalties with any sort of consistency.

Scott missed Thursday's practice with an illness, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.Coach Todd McLellan had Brent Burns fill in for Scott on the Sharks' fourth line at practice, but it doesn't sound like the illness is overly serious for the winger. He's expected to be at full health in advance of Saturday's game against the Canucks.

Scott found twine for just the fourth time in his 259-game career in a 3-1 loss to the Flames on Wednesday. He spent just 4:43 on the ice in this one, so how's that for efficiency? With 476 PIM and 36 fighting majors to his name, the pugilist has only ever been fantasy relevant for his transgressions, as his third-period goal was one of the rarest sights in all of hockey.

John Scott will draw back into the San Jose lineup on Thursday against Edmonton, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.Scott has been out of the lineup since the Sharks had a home-and-home against Edmonton on December 7 and 9. He remains a player with very limited fantasy value, not least of all because you just don't know how many games he's going to play this year.

Scott had an assist and a pair of shots through his paltry 8:17 of ice time in Saturday's win over Calgary. That's Scott's second point of the year and his first since his first game of the season. Scott has only suited up for ten games so far this year, but is starting to get some consistent time in San Jose. He's been on the ice for the Sharks in their last four games. Saturday's 8:17 of ice time was the most ice he's seen over that four-game stretch and his second highest mark of the year.

Scott has yet to enter a game since finishing his two-game suspension in October. He was a scratch again in Saturday's game against Dallas.Scott's lack of playing time shouldn't come as a surprise. Though the Sharks said they wanted to play him and get tougher, Scott was never going to find his way into regular ice time. He's only suited up for five of San Jose's 15 games and has thus far collected one goal, two shots, and 22 penalty minutes.

Scott has completed his two-game suspension and will be a lineup option for Saturday's game against the Islanders, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports. It's uncertain if Scott will reenter the lineup Saturday, as he's often been a healthy scratch on the season. As the two-game ban would suggest, Scott's role on the ice is to cause trouble at the expense of most everything else. He's racked up 22 penalty minutes in five games this season.

Scott has been suspended two games for his role in Sunday's fight between the Sharks and Ducks, Sporting News reports.Scott started a fight with Anaheim's Tim Jackman during a game in which the teams combined for 165 penalty minutes. Though he left the bench during the incident, the NHL ruled it a legal line change, so Scott avoids the mandatory 10-game suspension for leaving the bench to instigate a fight. He'll miss Tuesday's game in Colorado and Thursday's contest in Minnesota.
