Jason Garrison: Inks deal with foreign club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison signed a contract with Djurgardens IF of Sweden on Monday.

Garrison's stint with the Blackhawks -- his sixth NHL team -- didn't go over well, as he was waived unconditionally last Wednesday. It appears that Garrison's NHL career will conclude with the defenseman having compiled 49 goals and 111 assists over 555 games.

Jason Garrison: Waived unconditionally
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Blackhawks placed Garrison on unconditional waivers Wednesday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

The Blackhawks have a logjam at defense, so there's no reason to keep Garrison around, as he'd only take ice time away from their youngsters in the AHL. Once his contract is terminated, Garrison will be free to sign with another NHL club, but it remains to be seen if any organization will express interest in bringing in the 34-year-old vet.

Blackhawks' Jason Garrison: Clears waivers, bound for AHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison cleared waivers Tuesday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports, relaying from Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman that the defenseman will head to AHL Rockford.

Garrison could have served as the seventh defenseman for the Blackhawks following news that Brandon Davidson will miss 6-to-8 weeks following leg surgery, but evidently, that won't come to fruition. Once a valuable blueliner with 30-odd-point upside, Garrison has faded into obscurity in the fantasy realm.

Blackhawks' Jason Garrison: Waived by team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was placed on waivers by the Blackhawks on Monday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Garrison -- who was just recently acquired via trade from Edmonton -- may not be headed down to the minors right away, as the club waits for Brandon Davidson (leg) to return. Whether the 33-year-old Garrison is shipped down as soon as he clears will go a long way toward determining when Davidson might be back.

Blackhawks' Jason Garrison: Packing bags for Chicago
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was traded to the Blackhawks along with Drake Caggiula in exchange for Brandon Manning and Robin Norell, Mark Spector of reports.

Chicago will be the fourth team that Garrison has suited up for in the last three seasons and sixth in his career. The 34-year-old has just a goal and two points in 25 NHL games over the last two seasons. Garrison will likely be a healthy scratch most nights for Chicago.

Oilers' Jason Garrison: Given clean bill of health
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison is expected to be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Sharks,'s Derek Van Diest reports.

Garrison was unavailable for Thursday's game against Vancouver due to an illness, but he was never expected to be on the shelf for long. Either way, the veteran blueliner has sat as a healthy scratch more often than not this campaign, so there's no reason for fantasy owners to keep tabs on his availability.

Oilers' Jason Garrison: Out with flu
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison is under the weather and won't be available against the Canucks on Thursday, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

Considering how often Garrison has served as a healthy scratch this season, there was no guarantee he would have played even if he was healthy. The impending return of Kris Russell (undisclosed) will only serve to push Garrison further down the depth chart.

Oilers' Jason Garrison: Stuck in press box
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison served as a healthy scratch in his sixth straight game against Calgary on Sunday.

Garrison -- who signed a one-year deal with the Oilers in October -- has played in just 12 games this season. With little playing time under his belt, the blueliner could be the odd man out whenever Andrej Sekera (Achilles) is cleared to return to action, especially considering the team made the move to acquire Chris Wideman via trade despite having Garrison waiting in the wings.

Oilers' Jason Garrison: Secures one-year deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison agreed to terms on a one-year, $650,000 contract with the Oilers on Tuesday, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.

The decision to sign Garrison was likely swayed by the injuries to Kris Russell (undisclosed) and Adam Larsson (back) -- both are questionable for Opening Night on Saturday against New Jersey. The veteran Garrison will likely take a spot on the 23-man roster over youngster Ethan Bear, but could see himself relegated to the press box down the road.

Oilers' Jason Garrison: Signs PTO with Oilers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison inked a deal for a professional tryout with the Oilers on Tuesday.

Once upon a time Garrison scored 16 goals in a season, but those days are long behind him. Last year, the 33-year-old was a Golden Knight, but he only played eight games with the big club. Otherwise, the defenseman was down in the AHL plying his trade. It seems plausible that Garrison will grab a role with the Oilers, but even if he does there isn't much fantasy upside here. He's clearly on the downswing of his career.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Returns to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was loaned to AHL Chicago on Friday, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.

Garrison was a healthy scratch for the last three games, but shifting him to the minors could signal the return of Jon Merrill (undisclosed) for Sunday's game against the Flyers. In eight games this season, the 33-year-old Garrison has just one assist and a minus-2 rating.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Back in Vegas
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was recalled from AHL Chicago on Monday.

Garrison has bounced around from the NHL and the minors all year, but with Brayden McNabb (undisclosed), Luca Sbisa (hand) and Jon Merrill (undisclosed) all still banged up, his presence is once again needed. Also, Vegas is about to head out on a lengthy six-game road trip and could use Garrison as a depth defenseman during the span.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Returned to minor-league affiliate
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Golden Knights assigned Garrison to AHL Chicago on Friday.

Brayden McNabb (undisclosed) will likely be ready to return following the all-star break, but Garrison may be recalled by the Golden Knights again following the league's brief hiatus to round out their depth at defense until Luca Sbisa (hand) or Jon Merrill (undisclosed) is cleared to play. The 33-year-old blueliner has tallied one assist in five games with Vegas this campaign.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Brought up to big club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Golden Knights recalled Garrison from AHL Chicago on Wednesday.

Brayden McNabb is considered day-to-day with the undisclosed injury he sustained during Tuesday's 6-3 win over Columbus, so Garrison will likely round out Vegas' depth at defense Thursday against the Islanders. The veteran blueliner has tallied one assist in four games with the Golden Knights this campaign.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Shipped back to AHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Saturday.

Prior to this season, the last time Garrison had played in the minors was back in 2009-10, when he represented the Rochester Americans -- a club formerly affiliated with the Panthers. He's appeared in 31 games for the Wolves, though, adding four goals and 14 assists, and the emergence of defenseman Shea Theodore has rendered Garrison little more than a depth option for the nascent franchise. There's reason to believe that Jon Merrill (undisclosed) is on the verge of returning, as this transaction involving Garrison wouldn't make much sense otherwise.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Promoted to Vegas
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was recalled from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.

The Golden Knights currently have three defensemen on injured reserve -- Jon Merrill and Clayton Stoner have undisclosed ailments, and Luca Sbisa's left hand injury is expected to put him on the shelf for 6-to-8 weeks, so Garrison figures to get a shot at redemption after he was waived by the nascent club in late October. The 33-year-old has added four goals, 14 assists and 18 PIM over 31 games with Vegas' minor-league affiliate, in addition to a single helper between four games at hockey's highest level this season.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Hits waiver wire
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison was waived by the Golden Knights on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Vegas is loaded with defensemen on the organizational depth chart, and Garrison had watched the past four games from the press box. There was some speculation that he could be a mainstay for the nascent franchise after pitching in an assist with 21:36 of ice time in the season opener, but now he's likely to clear waivers and punch his ticket to AHL Chicago.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Out of lineup Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison will be scratched for Sunday's matchup against Boston.

Garrison appeared in all four games for Vegas to start the season, but the 32-year-old will receive a day off Sunday.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Skating with new team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison (lower body) hit the ice with his new teammates Wednesday.

Garrison's three-year stint with the Lightning sputtered to a halt, as he saw action in just one of the team's final nine outings due to a lower-body ailment. Taken by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, the 32-year-old figures to be on the top pairing alongside Nate Schmidt -- although coach Gerard Gallant could change things around during camp.

Golden Knights' Jason Garrison: Moving to Vegas in expansion draft
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Garrison has been selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.

In addition to Garrison, Vegas is receiving prospect Nikita Gusev, a 2017 second-round pick and 2018 fourth-round pick from the Lightning. It's a heavy haul, but the Bolts had a bunch of players they wanted to keep in the expansion draft. Garrison once had a cannon of a shot and has scored as many as 16 goals in a single season, but he posted just a single goal and nine points in 70 points for the Lightning in 2016-17. Assuming he gets power-play time for the Golden Knights, he could make for a sneaky selection in deeper leagues.
