Ducks' Chad Johnson: Doing off-ice work
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson (head) has begun working out, but is still limited to off-ice work, Eric Stephens of The Athletic reports.

Considering Johnson hasn't been able to get back on the ice and the Ducks have just seven games remaining likely means the netminder is done for the season, even if the team hasn't officially made any announcements. If the 32-year-old does suit up again this year, it probably won't be until April. Of course, Johnson might not have been able to steal starts away from John Gibson and Ryan Miller even in a healthy state.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Placed on IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Ducks moved Johnson (head) to injured reserve, Eric Stephens of The Athletic reports.

Johnson's misfortune comes at a bad time, as the Ducks also lost John Gibson (upper-body) to injured reserve as well. Ryan Miller (knee) will be activated from injured reserve and will serve as the backup to Kevin Boyle on Wednesday and the duo should handle the goaltending duties until Johnson and Gibson are in the clear. The Ducks will likely have a decision to make between keeping Johnson or Miller when Johnson and Gibson are both healthy.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Gets hook in Philly
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson gave up four goals on 14 shots in the first period before being replaced by Kevin Boyle during Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Flyers.

With John Gibson sidelined due to an upper-body injury, Johnson got the start and was completely overwhelmed by the Philadelphia attack. The veteran netminder hasn't picked up a win since Nov. 9, and Johnson's 3.63 GAA and .879 save percentage on the season make him a very risky fantasy option even if Gibson remains out of action.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Tending twine Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson led the Ducks out to the ice for pregame warmups Saturday, Elliott Teaford of The Orange County Register reports. As a result, he'll be the road starter versus the Flyers.

With John Gibson dealing with an upper-body injury and Ryan Miller bogged down by a concussion, Johnson became the clear choice to take on the Flyers. It's an unenviable assignment considering Philadelphia has won eight of its past 10 contests. The 32-year-old is 2-6-0 with a 3.54 GAA and .884 save percentage since the team scooped him off waivers -- via the Blues -- on Dec. 11.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Subs in for injured Gibson
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson stopped nine of 10 shots after replacing starter John Gibson for the third period of Thursday's 4-0 loss to Ottawa.

Gibson was crashed into by teammate Jaycob Megna with 1:52 remaining in the second period, and the starter finished the frame before being removed for precautionary reasons. Even if Gibson is forced to miss time beyond this one, Johnson's not a recommended fantasy play given his 2-10-0 record and Anaheim's six-game losing streak, during which the team has been outscored 31-6.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Drops road start in Montreal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson allowed four goals on 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.

Make it eight consecutive losses for Johnson, whose record is now 2-10-0 with a 3.41 GAA and .885 save percentage. He had replaced John Gibson in Anaheim's last three games entering Tuesday. At this point, neither Ducks goalie offers much fantasy value considering how badly the team has struggled.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: In net Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will draw the start Tuesday in Montreal, Elliott Teaford of The OC Register reports.

Considering Johnson has had to replace starter John Gibson in each of the Ducks' past three games, it's no surprise that the veteran backup's finally getting a chance to start in this second leg of back-to-back. Johnson's 2-9-0 with a 3.36 GAA and .886 save percentage this season, so it's recommended owners look elsewhere at the goalie position here, especially with Anaheim having been outscored 23-5 over its past four games.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Needed in relief again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson entered Monday's game early in the third period and stopped eight of nine shots in a 6-1 loss to the Maple Leafs.

John Gibson had to be replaced for the third straight game, and while Johnson hasn't actually received a start since Jan. 20, he's played more than 60 minutes in those relief appearances, allowing four goals on 24 shots. It's likely the 32-year-old will get the official nod for Tuesday's game in Montreal, but given the Ducks' overall struggles right now, don't count on Johnson posting strong numbers.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Appears in relief
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson allowed three goals on 17 shots in relief in a 9-3 loss to Winnipeg.

It was a rout -- there's no other way to describe it. Better for both Johnson and John Gibson to sleep this one off and move on.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Stops one puck
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson made one save on the only shot he faced during a relief appearance in a 5-1 loss to the Blues on Wednesday.

At least he didn't yield a goal, but this performance does little to help Johnson's numbers. He was simply in net for mop-up duty, and with the game well in hand, the Blues didn't test him. Johnson is 2-9-0 with a 3.28 GAA and .889 save percentage in 14 games with the Blues and Ducks.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Gets little help against Isles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson stopped 26 of 28 shots in Sunday's 3-0 loss to the Islanders.

New York's final goal was scored into an empty net. Johnson is now winless in three outings since joining the Ducks, but that's mostly a product of Anaheim only scoring three goals in total in those games -- his 2.26 GAA and .918 save percentage are strong, and should earn the veteran netminder a little more action behind John Gibson after the All-Star break.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Gearing up for Sunday's start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will protect the road net in Sunday's game versus the Islanders, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Johnson will make his second start for Anaheim since the Ducks are on the second leg of back-to-back outings. There's not much reason for confidence in Johnson since his .888 save percentage and 3.36 GAA has produced an ugly 2-8-0 record between the Blues and Ducks this season. Furthermore, the Islanders enter this contest winning four straight while averaging 3.25 goals per game in that span.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Allows pair of goals in relief
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson stepped in for John Gibson (upper body) against host San Jose on Thursday, proceeding to stop 20 of 22 shots in a 4-2 loss.

This was the first relief appearance for Johnson since the Ducks scooped him off waivers -- via the Blues -- back on Dec. 11. He'd also represented Anaheim for a road start against the Rangers nine days prior, but the result was the same, as he was saddled with a loss each time out. While it's unclear how much time Gibson will miss, Johnson seems to be in the right frame of mind when it comes to his approach to the game. "I always warm up and prepare at the start of the games," he said. "You never know in this league what's going to happen. I was as prepared as I could be for that situation, but you're never fully into it compared to when you know you're going to start and your mindset the whole day is different, but it's part of my job and I'm confident with my ability."

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Different team, same story
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson lost his Ducks debut, giving up two goals on 23 shots in a 3-1 defeat to the Rangers on Tuesday.

The veteran netminder really struggled in St. Louis to begin this season, and Tuesday wasn't all that much better in a different uniform. With the two teams combined, Johnson has lost five straight decisions and posted a .857 save percentage since Nov. 11. Even in new surroundings, he can't be trusted in standard leagues.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Will make Ducks debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will start in the road crease Tuesday versus the Rangers, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.

Johnson couldn't figure it out in St. Louis this season with a brutal .884 save percentage and 2-6-0 record, causing the Blues to waive him and he was scooped by the Ducks. It's the second game in as many nights for the Ducks, so Johnson will begin his fresh start. He'll have a tough opponent, as the Rangers are averaging 3.4 goals per game in December.

Ducks' Chad Johnson: Headed to Anaheim
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was claimed off waivers by the Ducks on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

The move likely means Ryan Miller's lower-body will keep the veteran netminder out of action for an extended period. Johnson, a veteran in his ninth season, will get another opportunity in the NHL after being let go by St. Louis, but don't expect him to see a ton of action with the Ducks. John Gibson's value has increased exponentially with the injury to Miller. Anaheim will be Johnson's eighth NHL team.

Blues' Chad Johnson: Placed on waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Blues placed Johnson on waivers Monday following the team's embarrassing 6-1 home loss to Vancouver the previous night.

Considering Johnson has gone over a month without a win, this move should come as little surprise. The 32-year-old has posted a 2-6-0 record so far this season and has not played well by any standard. If unclaimed, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch suggests Johnson's time with the Blues organization could be over.

Blues' Chad Johnson: Luck not on his side
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was called upon in relief Sunday and proceeded to stop 12 of 15 shots in a 6-1 home loss to the Canucks.

Johnson ended up replacing Jake Allen with 5:55 remaining in the first period, and while the St. Louis backup allowed three goals of his own, he was the victim of two bad bounces and a beautiful tic-tac-toe sequence to benefit Vancouver. A Blackhawks loss put Chicago in the cellar of the Central Division standings, but the Notes are just one step above at 10-14-4 -- at least in shallow leagues, this makes it difficult to roster Allen, let alone Johnson as the team's chief backup.

Blues' Chad Johnson: Crushed in spot start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson was shelled for six goals on 44 shots Saturday, suffering a 6-1 road loss to the Coyotes.

Only seven Arizona skaters were held off the scoresheet in this one, with Johnson facing 18 more shots than counterpart Adin Hill. The Blues had the disadvantage of playing their second road game in as many nights, but Johnson has permitted exactly six goals in each of his last two starts, and you'd have to rewind to his Nov. 9 shutout over the Sharks to see the last time Johnson skated off with a victory. The journeyman might appeal to Jake Allen owners as an insurance option of sorts, but no one should be excited about Johnson's 2-6-0 record, 3.51 GAA and .889 save percentage through nine games.

Blues' Chad Johnson: Looking to rebound Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Johnson will guard the road crease Saturday in Arizona, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Johnson watched Jake Allen topple the Avalanche in overtime Friday, and he'll be hoping for a similar result here in Arizona. The Coyotes average just 2.46 goals per game, so this is a good opportunity for the backup goalie to get back on track after allowing 13 goals in losing each of his past three starts.
