Wilson (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Monday.Since Wilson was deemed unfit to play for the Avs during their four-game road trip that began Saturday, the team decided to move him to IR to free up a roster spot for a potential call-up if needed. Wilson will continue to skate on his own back in Colorado, with the hope that he'll be ready to go when the team returns to their home ice Nov. 20 against the Capitals.

Wilson (shoulder) will not travel with the Avalanche for their four-game road trip beginning Saturday in Philadelphia, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.Wilson is nearing the end of the two-to-three week timetable he was given for his shoulder injury and appears to be progressing well, but not significantly enough to be an option for the Avs. The team has resisted placing him on injured reserve throughout the duration of his absence, instead getting by with seven defensemen during that time.

Wilson (back) returned to the lineup Friday, logging 21:25 of ice time in a 7-2 loss to the Blackhawks. It marked Wilson's first game since Nov. 6. Wilson was activated from injured reserve last week but had been scratched for a handful of games before Christmas break, as coach Patrick Roy wanted the defenseman to get back to full speed. He'll presumably be a mainstay in the lineup moving forward, but don't expect him to provide much in the way of point production.

Coach Patrick Roy said Wilson (back) is about two weeks away from returning to practice, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.Because of his long absence, Wilson will probably require more than one full-contact practice before the Avs will feel comfortable activating from IR, perhaps delaying his return to game action beyond those two weeks. The team will get by with Tyson Barrie on the blue line while Wilson remains out of commission.
