  • Ducks' Reto Berra: Returned to minors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/9/18) Berra was sent back to AHL San Diego on Friday.

Unsurprisingly, the team no longer requires the services of Berra with John Gibson (lower body) available for the club again Friday. He should remain at the ready in case another injury surfaces among the Ducks' goalie group, with him having given solid efforts at both levels this season.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Posts 20 saves in relief

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/3/18) Berra allowed two goals on 22 shots in relief of Ryan Miller during a 5-2 loss to the Canadiens on Saturday.

The journeyman goaltender was called up Thursday and pressed into service after Miller struggled in the first 10 minutes. Unfortunately for Berra, he didn't really do anything to prove he deserves more playing time. In five appearances with the Ducks this season, he is 1-1-1 with a .926 save percentage and 2.31 GAA, but his career save percentage sits at just .905. Berra will be back in the AHL once John Gibson (lower-body) is ready, which could be very soon.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Called up Thursday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/1/18) Berra was recalled from AHL San Diego on Thursday, Eric Stephens of The Orange County Register reports.

With John Gibson (lower body) remaining day-to-day, the Ducks wanted to be sure that they had at least one healthy goaltender available (besides Ryan Miller) ahead of the evening's road contest against the Senators. Since Berra's only played in 75 NHL contests between four clubs since debuting with the Flames in 2013-14, he won't be met with much fanfare in the fantasy realm.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Falters in AHL start

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/26/17) Berra, who was sent to AHL San Diego on Friday, stopped 20 of 23 shots in a 4-1 home loss to Bakersfield that night.

The Swiss backstop was reassigned to the AHL with Ryan Miller returning from a lower-body injury in time to face the Kings on Saturday. It's not worth holding onto a third-string goalie like Berra in fantasy, but at least it's clear where he stands within the organization when injuries strike the more established netminders.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Fills in for injured Ryan Miller

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/10/17) Berra stopped all six shots he faced in relief of Ryan Miller, who sustained a lower-body injury Thursday against the Canucks.

With John Gibson (head) sidelined, Berra has slid into the backup role for the Ducks. It's unknown if Miller's lower-body injury is serious, but if that's the case, Berra could see some more crease time in the near future. He owns a lackluster .903 career save percentage, so even if he does take over the starting gig, it's hard to recommend him as a serviceable fantasy option.
