  • Ducks' Reto Berra: Fills in for injured Ryan Miller

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/10/17) Berra stopped all six shots he faced in relief of Ryan Miller, who sustained a lower-body injury Thursday against the Canucks.

With John Gibson (head) sidelined, Berra has slid into the backup role for the Ducks. It's unknown if Miller's lower-body injury is serious, but if that's the case, Berra could see some more crease time in the near future. He owns a lackluster .903 career save percentage, so even if he does take over the starting gig, it's hard to recommend him as a serviceable fantasy option.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Promoted from minors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/8/17) Berra was called up from AHL San Diego on Wednesday, per the NHL media site.

Berra's promotion all but rules John Gibson (head) out for Thursday's clash with Vancouver and -- reading between the lines -- likely clears the way for Ryan Miller to get the start, although the team has not provided an official confirmation. In his lone minor-league appearance, Berra gave up three goals on 41 shots, walking away with the victory and a .927 save percentage. The 30-year-old will almost certainly head back to the Gulls once Gibson is back to 100 percent.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Placed on waivers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/3/17) Berra was placed on waivers Friday, Elliotte Friedman reports.

With John Gibson and Ryan Miller both finally healthy, there wasn't room left for Berra on Anaheim's main roster. If he isn't claimed, Berra will likely head down to the AHL with the Gulls.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Makes 20 stops against old team

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/13/17) Berra came on in relief of the injured John Gibson (undisclosed) and stopped 20 of 21 shots in a 3-1 loss to Colorado on Friday.

Friday night could have been so much worse for the Ducks. Without the defense's shot-blocking efforts, the Avalanche would have had 65 shots make it to the Anaheim net. The fact that 39 got through is not an encouraging sign for either Berra or Gibson's ability to consistently perform, even if they did it successfully against Colorado.

Ducks' Reto Berra: Latches on with Anaheim

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/5/17) Berra signed a one-year contract with the Ducks on Wednesday.

One of the NHL's nomadic goalies, Berra spent a decade playing in his home country of Switzerland before stints with the Flames, Avalanche and Panthers, respectively, from 2013-17. His career numbers include a 19-35-4 record, 2.88 GAA and .904 save percentage, suggesting that he may never evolve into a No. 1 goaltender. Anaheim's free-agent acquisition of veteran backstop Ryan Miller -- who will presumably back up John Gibson -- figures to make it that much more difficult for Berra to see NHL ice in 2017-18.
