Cross was assigned to AHL Providence on Wednesday.
Cross will head to the minors after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 31-year-old blueliner hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2015-16.
Cross (undisclosed) was waived by the Panthers on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Cross started the season on injured reserve. He's seemingly healthy now and will likely be assigned to AHL Syracuse if he clears waivers. The 31-year-old hasn't played an NHL game since the 2015-16 season. He posted 21 points and 56 PIM over 50 AHL games last year.
Cross (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, per TSN.
Cross isn't expected to be a factor with the Panthers this year -- he last played in the NHL in 2015-16 with the Bruins. He had 21 points in 50 games with AHL Springfield last year. The 31-year-old Cross is organizational depth for the Panthers.
Cross agreed to sign a two-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Monday.
Cross spent the entire 2018-19 season in the Columbus system, racking up 34 points in 73 AHL contests. The 29-year-old will likely provide organizational depth next season, and beyond, as he's suited up in just three games at the NHL level in his six-year professional career.
Cross was placed on waivers by the Blue Jackets on Monday, Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
This is not a surprise after the 28-year-old signed a two-way deal with the Jackets in the offseason. Cross scored eight goals and 36 points in 73 games for AHL Providence last season, but he's seen only three games in the NHL since being drafted in the second round by the Bruins in 2007.
Cross signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Blue Jackets on Sunday, Frank Seravalli of TSN.ca reports.
Cross has just three career NHL games under his belt, and he hasn't played in one since the 2015-16 season. The 28-year-old blueliner has 71 points in the last two seasons for AHL Providence, though. He'll likely remain in the minors again with Columbus expressing its faith in Dean Kukan and Markus Nutivaara.
The Bruins have assigned Cross to AHL Providence.
Cross didn't suit up for the big club during his latest recall, but was on hand Thursday night in the event that Matt Grzelcyk (upper body) wasn't able to play. With the Boston blue line poised to welcome back Zdeno Chara (upper body and Charlie McAvoy (knee), Cross will revert to his accustomed role of anchoring Providence's back line. The 28-year-old has logged eight goals and 32 points in 66 AHL games to date, to go along with 79 PIM and a plus-25 rating.
The Bruins have recalled Cross from AHL Providence on an emergency basis.
In a corresponding move, the team assigned fellow defenseman Paul Postma to Providence. With Matt Grzelcyk dealing with an upper-body injury, Cross has a chance to make his season debut with the big club Thursday night against the Lightning. The 28-year-old has been having a strong campaign at the AHL level, having notched eight goals and 32 points in 66 games to date, to go along with 79 PIM and a plus-25 rating. While we don't expect the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder to provide the B's with much offense, he'll add some size and grit to the team's back line in advance of Thursday's Atlantic Division showdown.
Cross was demoted to the Bruins of the AHL on Monday.
The 28-year-old blueliner was briefly recalled in order to suit up for Boston's final preseason tilt Saturday. Now that Cross is back in Providence, he's likely to spend the entirety of 2017-18 with the AHL squad that he captains.
Cross took part in Saturday's 1-0 preseason loss to Chicago following a recall from AHL Providence.
The veteran AHLer has already been exposed to the waiver wire this preseason, so it's highly unlikely that Cross will remain with Boston when the regular season. A solid defender, Cross will be a depth option for the Bruins, but doesn't project to be much more.
Cross was placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to AHL Providence on Monday.
The former Boston College Eagle enjoyed the best professional season of his career in 2016-17, scoring 12 goals and 35 points in 74 games as Providence's captain. Cross also recorded an assist in a single postseason appearance for Boston last year when the NHL club was hard hit by injuries to the blue line. Though it's not out of the realm of possibility for Cross to return to the NHL level in the future, the Bruins' organizational depth at the position has improved with the emergence of youngsters like Charlie McAvoy, Matt Grzelyck and Jeremy Lauzon -- presenting additional roadblocks to a full-time NHL spot for Cross.
Cross inked a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Wednesday.
Since being selected in the second round of the 2007 NHL Draft, Cross has appeared in just three regular-season NHL contests, garnering a lone helper in that span. The 27-year-old has been a steady blue-line presence for AHL Providence for the past several seasons and is coming off a 2016-17 campaign in which he posted a career-high 35 points. Cross is not especially likely to land regular duty with the big club in 2017-18, but when injuries hit, he'll be a candidate for recall.
With Colin Miller in line to return to action, Cross is slated to be the odd man out in the Bruins' blue-line mix for Wednesday's Game 4 against the Senators, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
With the team's defensive corps hit hard by injuries, Cross drew into the B's lineup Monday against the Sens, logging a helper over 13:08 worth of ice time. He'll now watch from the press box unless or until another injury opens up a lineup slot.
Cross worked on a pairing with John-Michael Liles at Monday's morning skate.
With the Bruins' blue line already ailing and Colin Miller a game-time decision, either Cross or Matt Grzelcyk could draw into the B's lineup for Monday's Game 3 against Ottawa. Cross logged 12 goals and 35 points in 74 games for AHL Providence this past season, easily his best campaign as a pro, but if the 27-year-old does suit up for the big club Monday, he'd be a speculative fantasy play, given the modest upside on offense he previously displayed in the minors.
Cross was summoned from AHL Providence ahead of Monday's Game 3 against the Senators on an emergency basis.
Cross took part in the club's morning skate and was paired with John-Michael Liles, potentially signifying he will join the lineup Monday. The 27-year-old blueliner has played in just three NHL games so far in his career, but he did produce 35 points (12 goals, 23 assists) over 74 contests with AHL Providence this year. Even if he does draw in, it's unlikely Cross will see enough ice time to warrant ownership in the majority of playoff pools.
Cross has signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Bruins, the Boston Herald reports.
The 26-year-old blueliner saw his first NHL action with the B's last season, notching an assist in three games with the team. In 2016-17, Cross figures to spend most of of his time at the AHL level, where recorded three goals and 23 points to go along with 97 PIM in 64 games for Providence in 2015-16.
Cross has been sent to the minors, Jose Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Cross has one helper with the Bruins, and two with AHL Providence this season. He's a fill-in option when one of the parent club's defensive regulars are forced out of the lineup due to injury.
Cross was recalled by the Bruins on Tuesday, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Joe Morrow (illness) was placed on IR on Tuesday, meaning Cross will replace him on the Bruins' 23-man roster for the team's upcoming two game road trip. Cross will likely be returned to AHL Providence once Morrow is activated from IR.
