Grosenick cleared the NHL's COVID-19 protocol and was added to the taxi squad, John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio reports.

In a corresponding move, Jacob Ingham was assigned to AHL Ontario. Grosenick -- who hasn't played an NHL game since the 2014-15 season -- will add depth in the crease behind Jonathan Quick and Cal Petersen.

The Kings assigned Grosenick (COVID-19 protocols) to AHL Ontario after claiming him off waivers Saturday, Zach Dooley of LAKingsInsider.com reports.

Grosenick will be traveling from Canada, so he'll likely have to undergo a lengthy quarantine before joining Ontario. The 31-year-old could get a look with the Kings' taxi squad once he clears the NHL's virus protocols.

Grosenick has been claimed off waivers by the Kings, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.

Grosenick started the season with LA, but was claimed off waivers by the Oilers in Jan. 16, only to be scooped up by the Kings after being waived by Edmonton three weeks later. He'll likely replace Jacob Ingham as LA's taxi squad netminder once he completes his mandatory quarantine.

Grosenick is back on waivers after being claimed by the Oilers in mid-January. If he clears, which is far from guaranteed, the move would allow the 31-year-old Wisconsin native to be placed on the taxi squad and for Mike Smith (undisclosed) to be activated off long-term injured reserve.

Grosenick has completed his quarantine and will back up Mikko Koskinen in Saturday's game versus the Maple Leafs. The Oilers play again Sunday against the Senators, so there's a chance he'll draw the start then.

Grosenick was finally able to practice with the Oilers after being claimed by the team off waivers back on Jan. 16. Once activated off non-roster injured reserve, Grosenick could see opportunities to start with Mike Smith (undisclosed) still unavailable. With a back-to-back on the schedule, Grosenick could get the nod as early as Sunday's matchup with Toronto.

Grosenick isn't likely to see action unless something happens to both Jonathan Quick and Petersen, so he'd only be an option in daily leagues, and only if the day ever comes when both of the Kings' regular goalies are deemed unable to play.

The 31-year-old netminder has played in just two NHL games during his career, but he's been a fantastic AHL goalie. Last season with AHL Milwaukee, Grosenick posted a .920 save percentage, a 2.29 GAA and a 20-9-3 record. He won't get an opportunity with the big club unless either Jonathan Quick or Cal Petersen get hurt, but he should give AHL Ontario a chance to win every night, something that will be key to developing the Kings' prospects.

Grosenick will be between the pipes for Monday's preseason matchup with Florida, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

San Jose traded Grosenick and Brandon Bolling to Nashville for a sixth-round selection in the 2018 draft.

Grosenick owns a 6-9-2 record in 20 AHL appearances this season, registering a 2.98 GAA and .902 save percentage. This was a very inconsequential acquisition, as he will likely just be stashed away in AHL Milwaukee.

Grosenick was originally summoned to back up Aaron Dell while Martin Jones (undisclosed) was on injured reserve. Jones is expected to return after the All-Star break, so Grosenick will remain in the minors for the time being.
