  • Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Returned to minor-league affiliate

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/10/17) The Wild reassigned Svedberg to AHL Iowa on Friday.

Alex Stalock rejoined the Wild on Thursday following the birth of his daughter, so Minnesota is no longer in need of Svedberg's services as a backup netminder. The 28-year-old Swede will return to his role as AHL Iowa's primary backstop.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Recalled from AHL Iowa

(11/8/17) Svedberg was recalled from AHL Iowa, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

He'll serve as the backup to Devan Dubnyk with Alex Stalock set to miss the game to be with his wife, who is expecting the couple's second child. Svedberg may be back in the NHL for just one game.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Posts clean sheet

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/25/17) Svedberg made saves on all 17 shots he faced in a 5-1 preseason loss Sunday against Colorado.

The Swede played perfectly until he was taken out in the middle of the second period, and even made seven power-play saves. This is Svedberg's first season in North America since 2014-15 when he started 21 games for Boston, and he's battling Steve Michalek and Alex Stalock for the backup goaltending job behind Devan Dubnyk.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: Starting preseason contest

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/17/17) Svedberg will start in goal for Monday's preseason matchup with Winnipeg, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.

Having spent the last two seasons playing in Russia with Salavat Ufa, Svedberg was brought to Minnesota to compete with Alex Stalock for the position of backup goaltender. The Wild will get their first look at him in game action Monday, though he will only play two periods before turning the net over to Steve Michalek.

Wild's Niklas Svedberg: In consideration for backup duty

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/28/17) Svedberg will compete with Alex Stalock for the primary backup goalie job in Minnesota this season, the Pioneer Press reports.

The undrafted Swede does have NHL experience -- he recorded 19 games with the Bruins between 2013-14 -- but Svedberg will have to beat out Stalock, whose resume includes experience playing in five different levels of North American hockey. At the very least, it appears that Wild coach Bruce Boudreau is keeping his options open with training camp looming.
