Casto inked a one-year deal with German club Wolfsburg on Sunday.
Casto has spent his entire career in the minors, most recently with AHL Bridgeport in 2018-19 in which he notched four goals and nine helpers in 43 appearances. While the move to Germany will extend the 27-year-old's career, it likely marks the end of his chances of playing in the NHL.
Casto was waived by the Golden Knights on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
The Golden Knights are extremely deep at defense, so Casto was never expected to secure a spot on the team's Opening Night roster. He'll likely spend the entirety of the 2017-18 season in the minors.
Casto signed a one-year, $650,000 contract with Vegas on Saturday.
Casto has recorded 28 points over the past three seasons for AHL Providence, as well as a valiant plus-20 rating. Vegas picked defensive heavy, though, so don't expect Casto to get called up from AHL Chicago too much.
Casto signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Bruins on Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
According to General Fanager, Casto will make $650,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 in the AHL, with $102,500 guaranteed. Last season, with AHL Providence, the 24-year-old defenseman hit twine seven times to go along with 16 helpers in 68 games. The future looks bright for Casto, even though he went undrafted.
