Under the terms of his qualifying offer, Amadio would earn $650,000 on a two-way deal that would allow him to continue playing in both the AHL and NHL. The Kings now have the right to match any offer to Amadio, or could receive draft compensation should they choose to decline to match.

Amadio -- who has 80 games' worth of NHL experience -- should be a key mentor for the Reign, but just like the Kings, the minor-league team is in last place within its division. The 22-year-old absolutely shredded junior-league competition with OHL North Bay, but he's met his match in the pros, and has just 21 points through 80 top-level contests.

The Kings brass may have heard his pleas, since Amadio, who is 22 years old, will be immediately available for the Kings' road trip starting Monday in Calgary.

Amadio had points in two of his last three games at the NHL level, but the Kings still made the decision to send him down to their AHL affiliate on deadline day. He has two goals, nine assists, and has posted an even rating in 14 minor-league appearances this season. Los Angeles could summon Amadio back to the NHL immediately, as these types of transactions happen a lot this time of year, as clubs seek to use all available avenues to make sure certain players remain eligible for AHL playoffs.
