  • Golden Knights' Max Lagace: Called up from minors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(5/1/18) Lagace was promoted from AHL Chicago on Tuesday, Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

The Chicago Wolves were knocked out of the Calder Cup Playoffs, which made Lagace available to link up with Vegas in San Jose. The 25-year-old won't make an appearance for the Golden Knights -- barring a disastrous run of injuries -- and will simply serve as an extra netminder at practice. The Quebec native logged 23 minor-league outings this season, in which he registered a 14-5-1 record and 2.84 GAA. Given the number of goalies the organization has in the system, Lagace is unlikely to see much NHL action during the 2018-19 campaign.

Golden Knights' Max Lagace: Demoted to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/15/18) Lagace was sent down to AHL Chicago on Thursday.

Lagace was serving as the backup goaltender behind Marc-Andre Fleury with Malcolm Subban (upper body) on injured reserve. While nothing is official, this could be a hint at Subban returning soon. At any rate, Lagace has struggled at the NHL level in his rookie season. The 25-year-old owns a 3.91 GAA and .867 save percentage in 16 appearances.

Golden Knights' Max Lagace: Stops 13 in relief

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/15/18) Lagace made 13 saves on 17 shots after replacing Marc-Andre Fleury in the second period of an 8-3 loss to New Jersey on Wednesday.

It didn't matter who the Golden Knights tried in net in this contest, because nothing worked for them on defense all night. Lagace's outing was a slight improvement on Fleury, but both netminders struggled badly against New Jersey, despite only facing a combined 28 shots. The sooner both of them can flush this one, the better.

Golden Knights' Max Lagace: Recalled from minors, set to start Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/27/18) Lagace was recalled from AHL Chicago and will start Tuesday against the Kings, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.

Since the Golden Knights faced the Kings on Monday night, Lagace will take the second half of back-to-back matchups. Lagace hasn't started since Dec. 9 against the Stars, when he tamed 36 of 39 shots. Still, he has mostly struggled with the big club, posting a 6-6-1 record with a .872 save percentage and a 3.79 GAA. With its eyes on the playoffs, Vegas wants a dependable backup goalie, so getting Lagace into the lineup against the league's 17th-ranked offense (2.8 goals per game) seems like the right time, but fantasy owners should look elsewhere for their backstop.

Golden Knights' Max Lagace: Makes 36 saves in victory

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/10/17) Lagace stopped 36 of 39 shots in Saturday's win over the Stars.

Lagace was making his first start since Dec.1 against Winnipeg, when he was burned for six goals in a crushing defeat. The 24-year-old has found himself in the backup role once again with Malcolm Subban having returned from injury and playing very well. Marc-Andre Fleury (concussion) is nearing a return, so expect Lagace to be sent back to the AHL soon. His 6-6-1 record is decent, but his .872 save percentage indicates there's still some work that needs to be done.
