  • Stars' Michael Mersch: Returns to minor league

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/15/19) Mersch was reassigned to AHL Texas on Tuesday.

Mersch's hockey resume includes multiple championships at the collegiate level with the University of Wisconsin and another title with AHL Manchester (now the Ontario Reign) in 2014-15. The American winger -- who signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Stars in July -- will resume his minor-league career having produced 193 points (94 goals, 99 assists) over 277 games.

Stars' Michael Mersch: Receives NHL call-up

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/14/19) Mersch was recalled from AHL Texas on Monday.

Mersch last played in the NHL as a member of the 2015-16 Kings. The 26-year-old has three points in 17 career NHL games. This season, Mersch has been an effective contributor at the minor-league level, putting up 20 points in 29 games with AHL Texas.

Stars' Michael Mersch: Sent to waiver wire

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/29/18) Mersch was waived by the Stars on Saturday, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

Mersch maintained a 0.70 points-per-game pace in the AHL between the Manchester Monarchs/Ontario Reign from 2013-18, but he's only appeared in 17 games at hockey's highest level, adding one goal and two helpers for the Kings over that span. Mersch inked a two-year, two-way contract with the Stars in July, so it's no surprise that he's bound to start the new season in the minors.

Stars' Michael Mersch: Journeys to Lone Star State

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/18) Mersch signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Stars on Sunday.

Mersch is waiting for his NHL breakthrough, as the 25-year-old has 170 points over the last four seasons in the AHL. The University of Wisconsin product has only suited up for 17 NHL games and notched three points in those contests. Expect him to get a shot at the 23-man roster out of camp, but it's more likely he lands with AHL Texas.

Kings' Michael Mersch: Demoted to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/22/18) Mersch was reassigned to AHL Ontario on Thursday, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports.

There was speculation that Mersch could make his season debut following the Marian Gaborik trade to the Senators on Feb. 13, but that didn't come to fruition. Instead, he returns to the franchise's top development affiliate, where he's amassed 33 points (18 goals, 15 assists) for the second consecutive season.
