Lightning's Mike Condon: Recalled from AHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Lightning recalled Condon from AHL Charlotte on Sunday, Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com reports.

Condon appeared in one game with AHL Charlotte after the team's two usual netminders were recalled by the Hurricanes on Feb. 23. The 29-year-old netminder is expected to be reassigned back to AHL Syracuse.

Lightning's Mike Condon: Hits waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

As expected, Tampa Bay placed Condon on waivers Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Condon was never considered a serious contender for a spot on the Lightning's 23-man roster, so this move was expected. In the likely event that he goes unclaimed, the 29-year-old netminder will head to AHL Syracuse, where he'll remain for most, if not all of the 2019-20 campaign.

Lightning's Mike Condon: LIkely headed for waivers
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon (hip), along with Louis Domingue, will be placed on waivers if the Lightning can't find trade partners prior to Sept. 20, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports. It's not all bad news for Condon, as he appears to have recovered from his hip issue, per Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com.

Bringing in Condon via trade was nothing more than a salary dump for the Lightning and he was never going to get the chance to play in Tampa Bay. The netminder's disastrous 2018-19 campaign will make a trade nearly impossible, not to mention his $3 million cap hit. Condon will likely have to settle for some time in the minors proving he's rediscovered his game before a team takes a crack at him.

Lightning's Mike Condon: Swapped in salary trade
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon (hip) was acquired by the Lightning, along with a 2020 sixth-round pick, from the Senators in exchange for Ryan Callahan and a 2020 fifth-round selection.

Condon's days in Ottawa were numbered, especially considering he was earning $3 million while playing in the minors. The significantly more financially viable Lightning won't have the same concerns and get some added cap relief by moving off Callahan's (back) contract. Curtis McElhinney will likely earn the No. 2 job in training camp, which means Condon figures to spend the bulk of the year with AHL Syracuse.

Senators' Mike Condon: Sets eyes on 2019-20
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon (hip) hopes to return for training camp in the fall after a lost campaign.

The last time most fantasy owners saw Condon was during a disastrous game in Arizona, after which he was demoted to AHL Belleville and took the year off from game action to deal with hip inflammation. If he's even close to the player he was before this season, he could be a deep sleeper next season.

Senators' Mike Condon: Targeting March return
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon (hip) took shots at practice Tuesday, but he's not looking to return until some point in March.

Condon's eventual return will come with the Senators' AHL Belleville affiliate, so it shouldn't have many implications from a fantasy standpoint. Still, he should provide some organizational depth to the goalie position behind Anders Nilsson and Craig Anderson.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon will be sidelined until early February due to a hip injury.

Condon, who is in the minors playing for AHL Belleville, had a rough start to the 2018-19 campaign -- specifically, a 6.40 GAA and .800 save percentage in two games -- which led to him being sent down in the first place. With Craig Anderson (concussion) out of action, the Sens opted to bring in Anders Nilsson via trade from Vancouver in order to bolster their goalie ranks.

Senators' Mike Condon: Officially shipped to minors
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon was expected to be sent down to AHL Belleville after he cleared waivers and the move finally became official Tuesday.

The nail in Condon's coffin was allowing a shorthanded goal from the far blue line versus Arizona on Oct. 30. The Massachusetts native will likely spend a significant chunk of time trying to rediscover his game while Mike McKenna will serve as the backup to Craig Anderson.

Senators' Mike Condon: Waived by Ottawa
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Senators placed Condon on waivers Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Condon has been awful in limited action this season, compiling an 0-2-0 record while posting an abysmal 6.40 GAA and .800 save percentage through two appearances, so this move doesn't come as much of a surprise. If he goes unclaimed, the 28-year-old netminder will almost certainly be assigned to AHL Belleville. In the meantime, the Senators will need to recall another goaltender to serve as Craig Anderson's backup during Condon's trip to the doghouse.

Senators' Mike Condon: Chased in first period
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon made eight saves on 11 shots Tuesday, exiting after just 15:30 in a 5-1 loss to Arizona.

This isn't the way to gain trust from your coach or from fantasy owners, as Condon got a quick hook after a .727 save percentage in the contest. Condon has not played well in 2018, giving up eight goals in just under 80 minutes of work.

Senators' Mike Condon: Tending twine Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon will protect the net on the road against the Coyotes on Tuesday.

Condon will be making just his second appearance between the pipes for the Senators this season, in part due to the lack of back-to-backs on the team's schedule. Certainly the netminder's disappointing prior outing, in which he gave up five goals on 29 shots, was a factor as well. The Yotes aren't exactly an offensive juggernaut (2.50 goals per game), so it makes this a better opportunity to try to get Condon's season jump-started.

Senators' Mike Condon: Allows five in loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon gave up five goals on 29 shots Monday, resulting in a 6-3 loss to the Bruins.

It was Condon's first appearance of the regular season and he was certainly not at his best. At 28 years of age, Condon could play himself into a starting role with the rebuilding Senators, but he must string together better performances than what we saw from him Monday.

Senators' Mike Condon: Gets starting nod in Boston
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon will man the crease in Boston on Monday afternoon, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

It will be Condon's first appearance of the young 2018-19 campaign. The 28-year-old should get a decent amount of playing time backing up Craig Anderson this season.

Senators' Mike Condon: Holds Chicago to one goal Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon made 27 saves to beat the Blackhawks, 2-1, in Thursday's preseason matchup.

Chicago played its regulars in this one, so this was an impressive outing from Condon with the regular season right around the corner. Only Jonathan Toews was able to solve Condon here, but efforts like this are likely to come few and far between with a subpar Senators team suiting up in front of the 28-year-old netminder.

Senators' Mike Condon: Starting Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon has received the starting nod for Thursday's road game against the Blackhawks, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

The coaching staff did not disclose how long it expects to leave Condon in the game, but he played 30 minutes in his second preseason start last Friday against Chicago. He surrendered two goals on 11 shots in that contest but will look for a better result this time around.

Senators' Mike Condon: Will see half of Friday's game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon will start versus the Blackhawks on Friday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports, adding that the goalie will log 30 minutes in the cage.

Condon permitted two goals on 20 shots from the Maple Leafs on Tuesday, but one of them was a power-play tally from John Tavares in his highly anticipated debut with the club, so he probably gets a free pass on that one. It's tough to be excited about Condon's fantasy prospects, as he owns a substandard 2.76 GAA and .907 save percentage through 127 career games between the Habs, Penguins and Senators. Perhaps the lack of continuity in failing to stick with a given NHL club is what's hurting Condon the most.

Senators' Mike Condon: Makes 18 saves in preseason debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon stopped 18 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 preseason loss to Toronto.

Ryan Dzingel gave Ottawa a 1-0 lead just 21 seconds in, but Toronto blitzed the Senators after that. The first goal against Condon was a power-play tally by John Tavares, which set the Scotiabank Arena crowd into a frenzy. On the bright side, Condon looks to be fully recovered from the concussion that cut his 2017-18 campaign short. Marcus Hogberg replaced Condon and gave up two goals of his own.

Senators' Mike Condon: Gearing up to start Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon (concussion) is slated to start Tuesday's preseason road game versus the Maple Leafs, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Condon's 2017-18 campaign was shorted due to a concussion that he sustained in an April 3 practice session, but the long offseason evidently afforded him ample time to rest and recover. Particularly with Erik Karlsson moving on to the Sharks, the Senators figure to be a pitiful team in 2018-19, so we'd generally shy away from rostering No. 1 goalie Craig Anderson, let alone his backup, Condon.

Senators' Mike Condon: Dealing with concussion
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon was diagnosed with a concussion, effectively ending his 2017-18 campaign, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Coach Guy Boucher told reporters he plans to split the final two games between Craig Anderson and Daniel Taylor, which rules Condon out from returning this year. The 27-year-old is unlikely to look back on this season positively, as he went 5-17-5 with a .902 save percentage. If he is going to take over for Anderson at some point, Condon will need to significantly improve his performance. As it stands, he figures to remain in the backup role for 2018-19 -- severely limiting his fantasy value.

Senators' Mike Condon: Injured in practice
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Condon sustained an upper-body injury at practice Tuesday and will not be in action versus Buffalo on Wednesday, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.

Condon was slated to get the start for Tuesday's clash, but instead will be replaced in the lineup by Danny Taylor and likely in the crease by Craig Anderson. It has been a tough year for the 27-year-old Condon, as he registered an abysmal 5-17-5 record and .902 save percentage. The netminder hasn't been ruled out for the other two contests on the Senators' three-game road trip and could still play before the season ends.
