  • Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Sent down to minors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/24/18) Ho-Sang was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Monday.

Ho-Sang will once again start the year in the minors. The highly touted prospect has long been thought to be NHL ready by the Islanders' faithful, but it appears even the new regime on Long Island doesn't agree and the winger will have to earn his way back onto the 23-man roster down the road.

Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: In action Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/17/18) Ho-Sang (personal) will play in Monday's preseason matchup with Philadelphia.

With a busy preseason schedule, the Islanders figure to rotate their game-day squads, so don't be surprised to see Ho-Sang and others in and out of the lineup early in the preseason. The winger set a career high in assists (10) and points (12) last year while playing in just 22 games. If the youngster can secure a more consistent role with the club this year, he could challenge for the 30-point threshold.

Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Will sit out Sunday versus Flyers

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(9/16/18) Ho-Sang (personal) won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the Flyers, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

It's not clear why Ho-Sang is sitting out, but he would've likely sat out at some point anyway since the Islanders play six games in seven days. The 22-year-old also skated with the team Sunday morning. Ho-Sang is looking to have a big camp and secure a roster spot for a full NHL season.

    Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: Upsets team

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/30/18) Ho-Sang didn't hold back about his unhappiness with the organization in an interview Thursday, Newsday reports.

Ho-Sang feels the team has unfairly pinned the blame on him for their defensive problems this year. He pointed out that the team is last in the league in goals against and that he only played 22 games this season. While Ho-Sang may have a point and he probably should've been given a second chance this season, it's rare that criticizing the coach and management gets you what you want. Ho-Sang slipped in his draft year because of what most teams considered a poor attitude and piping up about his unhappiness is probably not the way to get back in the Islanders' good graces. A change of scenery may be needed for both parties here.

Islanders' Josh Ho-Sang: No timetable for return

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/8/18) Ho-Sang doesn't seem to be any closer to a return to the Islanders than he was a month ago, Newsday reports.

The good news for Ho-Sang is that his issues all have to do with his play on the ice and the Isles believe they can be corrected. He is a gifted skater and could become a solid offensive player for the Isles, but he has to realize that offense isn't the only part of the game that matters and he'll need to work on his defensive responsibilities. Ho-Sang will likely receive another shot with the Islanders this season once a roster spot opens up due to an injury or trade.
