Sharks' Kyle Wood: Lands one-year extension
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wood re-signed with the Sharks on a one-year, two-way contract with San Jose on Thursday which will pay him $700,000 at the NHL level, CapFriendly reports.

Drafted by the Avalanche in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft, Wood played for AHL San Jose last year. In 68 contests, the defenseman tallied six goals and 29 helpers. Given the depth of the Sharks' blue line, the 23-year-old may be hard pressed to make an NHL appearance in 2019-20.

Sharks' Kyle Wood: Receives qualifying offer
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Sharks extended Wood a qualifying offer Tuesday.

Wood spent the entirety of the 2018-19 season in the minors, picking up six goals and 35 points in 68 contests. All signs point to the 23-year-old once again sticking with AHL San Jose during the upcoming campaign.

Sharks' Kyle Wood: Dealt to San Jose
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Coyotes traded Wood to the Sharks in exchange for Adam Helewka on Thursday.

Wood has spent the last two campaigns with AHL Tucson, totaling 17 goals and 62 points in 117 contests. The 2014 third-round pick will likely get an opportunity to compete for the Sharks' seventh defenseman spot in training camp, but he won't have enough of an impact in 2018-19 to establish himself as a viable fantasy option.

Coyotes' Kyle Wood: Possible replacement for Chychrun
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wood is an option for the Coyotes, who have lost highly touted defenseman Jakob Chychrun to a knee injury for an indefinite period of time, Arizona Sports reports.

The 'Yotes signed Wood to a three-year, entry-level contract this past March. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, he's an imposing presence from the back line, and is fresh off a season with the AHL's Roadrunners that included 43 points (14 goals, 29 assists) in 68 games. However, he turned in a minus-23 rating that same year, suggesting that his own-zone play needs refining. For now, fantasy owners should at least consider the 2014 third-round pick -- originally drafted by the Avalanche -- as a potential keeper option.

Coyotes' Kyle Wood: Agrees to contract with Arizona
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wood signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Coyotes on Wednesday.

Wood was included as part of a deadline day trade in which Arizona sent Mikkel Boedker to Colorado. A product of the OHL, the blueliner has racked up 39 points in 49 games with North Bay this season.

Coyotes' Kyle Wood: Traded by Colorado
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wood was sent to the Coyotes along with Alex Tanguay and Conner Bleackley on Monday for Mikkel Boedker, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

A young prospect, Wood is currently playing in the Ontario Hockey League with the North Bay Battalion. The defenseman is having an outstanding season, as he's logged eight goals and 27 assists in 40 contests. While many will look at the 19-year-old as a toss in piece of a bigger trade, he has the potential to be a solid offensively minded blueliner for Arizona in the future.
