Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Loaned to Austrian team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Red Wings loaned Rasmussen to the Graz 99ers of Austria's ICE Hockey League on Wednesday.

Rasmussen spent the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids, notching seven goals and 22 points in 35 contests. The ninth overall pick from the 2017 draft will get an opportunity to earn a spot on the Red Wings' Opening Night roster during next season's training camp, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him start the campaign in the minors.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Strong showing in AHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen scored his sixth goal of the season in AHL Grand Rapids' 2-1 loss to San Antonio on Sunday.

Rasmussen has been pretty good this season (six goals, 20 points in 29 games) considering he missed nearly two full months from mid-November to mid-January due to injury. Considering the fact Rasmussen played 62 games with the Wings last season, combined with the fact Detroit has already been eliminated from playoff contention, make it increasingly likely the 20-year-old will see time at the NHL level before the season is over.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Remains on roster bubble
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen still has a chance to make the Opening Night roster due to Dylan Larkin's undisclosed injury, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

The Red Wings made the difficult decision to assign Rasmussen to AHL Grand Rapids, despite the prospect managing to put up four goals in seven preseason contests. However, his fortunes could change quickly if Larkin's injury keeps him out of Saturday's road opener against the Predators or Sunday's clash with the Stars at Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit. Rasmussen would have had an easier time pinning down a roster spot had the Wings not reacquired Valtteri Filppula in free agency.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Poses problems for Blues
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen potted two goals Thursday in a 4-1 win over the Blues.

Both goals from Rasmussen resulted from his terrific positioning at the doorstep. He cleaned up a Tyler Bertuzzi shot and redirected one from defenseman Dennis Cholowski for the game's final tally. Rasmussen is a virtual lock to make the Opening Night roster and deserves consideration in the late rounds of drafts.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Healthy entering camp
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (upper body) is ready for training camp, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.

Rasmussen's rookie campaign ended six games early due to the upper-body injury, but he's back on the horse preparing for the upcoming season. The brawny pivot is expected to reprise his No. 2 power-play role with the parent club, and simply being more experienced should lead to more ice time than he saw as a first-year player (12:05).

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Rookie campaign could be over
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (upper body) likely has played his final game of the 2018-19 season, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports, citing head coach Jeff Blashill.

There are only six games remaining for a Detroit club that plans to be on the golf course during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Rasmussen produced eight goals and 10 assists to go with a minus-8 rating in his rookie season, and that's also complementary to four goals on the man advantage. It's clear that the 2017 ninth overall pick will be a fixture for the Winged Wheel for years to come, with his current injury likely to be an afterthought by the time drafts begin for the 2019-20 season.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Expected to sit Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (upper body) is expected to miss Monday's game in San Jose.

The rookie forward has enjoyed a solid first season with Detroit, scoring 18 points in 62 games. Rasmussen has now missed two games with his upper-body injury and is currently without a timetable to return. The Red Wings expect to roll with seven defensemen with Rasmussen out.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Scratched with injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen will sit out with an upper-body injury when the Red Wings play the Golden Knights on Saturday, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.

Detroit called up Matt Puempel from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday, which leads us to believe that's when the team first found out about Rasmussen's upper-body issue. It's been tough to depend on most Red Wings this season, as the team carries an egregious minus-54 goal differential and has coupled rookies with near curtain-call veterans for most of the year.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Nabs helper as Wings prevail
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen notched an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

The talented rookie set up Andreas Athanasiou for his first of two goals in the narrow victory. Rasmussen is now at eight goals and 10 assists -- to complement four power-play helpers -- through 61 games. He's only averaged 12:07 of ice time, so just imagine his potential in a top-six capacity down the line.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Locked into NHL role
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen is expected to stick with the Red Wings for the remainder of the season, as opposed to reuniting with his junior club for potential playoff action, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

The Wings have been consistent with their plan to give Rasmussen as much exposure to the NHL as possible, as the team even made a point to keep him from playing in the 2018 World Junior Championship. Rasmussen has seven goals and eight assists over his first 50 games at the top level, plus Detroit already trusts him on the power play, where he's averaged 1:43 of ice time and banked four goals.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: First career two-point night
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen scored a power-play goal and added an assist in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights.

The 19-year-old missed the last 10 games with a hamstring injury, and he returned to action with a purpose, notching two points in the third period to give the Red Wings a semblance of life. The ninth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft played 14:57, over two minutes above his season average, and posted the first two-point night of his career. This outing shows Rasmussen's potential and should give Detroit faith that its right side is bolstered if Gustav Nyquist is traded before the deadline.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Activated for Thursday's game
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) will return Thursday evening against the Golden Knights.

Rasmussen is no longer listed on injured reserve, per the Red Wings' official site. It's been a little over a month since the highly touted rookie played in an NHL game, but his conditioning shouldn't be a concern since he played in the last three contests for AHL Grand Rapids. Rasmussen could be a sneaky DFS play, as he's produced 13 points (six goals, seven points) over 41 games and 12:41 of average ice time -- not to mention three tallies on the man advantage.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Producing during conditioning stint
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) scored twice for AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday.

The hulking rookie is on a conditioning stint with the Griffins. Rasmussen is scheduled to play one more contest with Grand Rapids on Friday before rejoining the Wings. Rasmussen has missed Detroit's last eight games.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Expected back next week
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) will draw into two games as part of his conditioning stint with AHL Grand Rapids, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

It was initially believed that Rasmussen would need to draw into three minor-league contests for his conditioning assignment, but Khan notes that the rookie will return to the NHL after playing Thursday against Texas and Friday versus San Antonio.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Out on conditioning assignment
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) was placed on long-term injured reserve Wednesday with a subsequent assignment to AHL Grand Rapids for conditioning purposes.

Even with the transaction retroactive to Jan. 4 -- his last game played -- Rasmussen will not be able to return until Feb. 7 at the earliest. The NHL's eligibility requirements for LTIR stipulate that a player must be out for at least 24 calendar days and 10 games in order for his team to be rewarded the benefit of extra cap savings against the upper limit. Detroit's rookie forward has already missed eight contests due to the hamstring issue, and according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, Rasmussen will play three games for the AHL's Griffins as part of his conditioning stint.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Return appears imminent
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) is expected to be activated from injured reserve soon, Peter J. Wallner of MLive.com reports.

An exact date for Rasmussen's activation is pending, but he's been afforded extra rest due to the NHL's All-Star break and Detroit's bye week. The towering rookie has missed the past eight games, though there's talk of defenseman Filip Hronek staying put in the minors to keep the path cleared for Rasmussen's return. Rasmussen's next chance to play will arrive Friday for a home game against the Maple Leafs. He has compiled six goals and seven assists through 41 NHL games.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Out through break
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) has been officially ruled out for Tuesday's tilt versus the Oilers, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Rasmussen was deemed doubtful for the contest by head coach Jeff Blashill on Monday and it appears he didn't make near enough improvement to be considered for the lineup. The team doesn't return to action until Feb. 1, so Rasmussen should have ample time to heal up for that game.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Doubtful for Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) is not expected to play Tuesday in Edmonton, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.

When asked about Rasmussen's status ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Oilers, head coach Jeff Blashill said: "I don't foresee him playing [Tuesday]." It's not officially official, but don't expect the 19-year-old to suit up until after the All-Star break. Rasmussen has missed the last seven games with a hamstring injury.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Moving to IR
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (hamstring) will be designated for injured reserve, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports, citing Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill.

Rasmussen will miss his fifth consecutive game Tuesday, with the Ducks set to take on the Wings at Little Caesars Arena. The touted prospect can probably be dropped for a flavor-of-the-week fantasy option in redraft formats, but Detroit's ninth overall pick (2017) should be a mainstay in dynasty leagues. Despite only averaging 12:41 of ice time in a bottom-six role, Rasmussen has compiled six goals and seven helpers over 41 games at the top level.

Red Wings' Michael Rasmussen: Slated to sit again
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rasmussen (lower body) is out of the projected lineup for Saturday's game against the Wild.

Rasmussen looks set to miss his fourth consecutive game as he recovers from a lower-body injury. His next chance to retake the ice arrives Tuesday against the Ducks. The rookie forward owns just 13 points through 41 contests this season, but the Red Wings -- who have fallen largely out of playoff contention -- should have plenty of ice time available for their young guns to develop.
