  • Rangers' Filip Chytil: Suiting up at Worlds

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/30/18) Chytil will play for the Czech Republic at the 2018 IIHF World Championship.

This will be the second major international tournament for Chytil this season, as he was in action at the 2017 IIHF Junior World Championship. In seven contests for the Czechs, the 18-year-old notched four points and should bring some tournament experience to the team, despite his age. Selected with the 21st pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, the center should challenge for a spot on the 23-man roster coming out of training camp next year.

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Sent to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/7/18) Chytil was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Saturday, TSN reports.

This transaction was announced after the Rangers suffered a 5-0 loss to the Flyers for the regular-season finale Saturday, but prior to breaking news detailing the firing of coach Alain Vigneault. Chytil should be able to help the Wolf Pack in the final three regular-season games down in the minor league. Selected by the Rangers with a first-round (21st overall) pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, the 18-year-old pivot managed three points over his first nine games at the top level this season. Keep him in mind for dynasty/keeper pools and possibly as a late flier in redraft leagues.

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Gets call to NHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/25/18) Chytil was summoned up from AHL Hartford on Sunday.

In his first season in North America, Chytil has wowed in the minors, throwing up 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 45 games, and is very disciplined -- he's only taken two minor penalties all year. It's unclear where the Czech native will slot into the lineup, but with his offensive creativity and potential, he very well could be given a couple looks in the top six.

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Set for World Juniors

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/13/17) Chytil was loaned to the Czech under-20 team Wednesday for the purpose of playing in the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The 21st overall pick in the 2017 draft, Chytil played well enough to earn a roster spot out of training camp, but he was sent to the minors after two unproductive outings. With AHL Hartford, the 18-year-old Chytil has notched 12 points through 15 contests and figures to be one of the focal points for the Czech team at the World Juniors. Expect Chytil to return to Hartford following the conclusion of the international showcase early in the new year.

Rangers' Filip Chytil: Dealing with cervical strain

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/7/17) The upper-body injury Chytil suffered in Saturday's loss to the Toronto Marlies was reportedly a cervical strain, according to the New York Post's Larry Brooks.

The 21st pick in this past draft has displayed some frailty in his first North American campaign, though this particular ailment came as the result of an illegal hit by Andreas Johnsson. Chytil's logged 12 points in 15 games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, and his advanced skill level will likely be helpful for the parent club at some point down the line.
