  • Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Back with Bridgeport

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/22/18) Aho was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Thursday.

The Swedish defenseman has only appeared in two games this month, so he'd be better off in the minors to refine his skills. Aho's posted only four points against a minus-5 rating through 22 games, but there's something to be said about how he's averaged close to a full minute on the power play as a rookie.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Won't play Wednesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/28/18) Aho will be a healthy scratch for the Islanders on Wednesday versus the Canadiens.

Aho has looked overwhelmed in the defensive zone at times this season and could lose playing time due to the acquisition of veteran Brandon Davidson on Saturday. Aho has one goal, three assists and is a minus-4 in 20 games for the Isles, but is now likely the odd man out and could see himself back in the AHL once a roster spot is needed, as it would make little sense to have a rookie rot away on the bench.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Paper assigned to AHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/26/18) Aho was designated to AHL Bridgeport on Monday in a paper move, Arthur Staple of The Atlantic reports. Despite the transaction, he's expected to stay with the Islanders.

The move was made so Aho would be eligible to compete in the AHL playoffs, and shouldn't affect his playing time going forward. The 22-year-old has drawn into the lineup for the majority of the contests since his call-up Dec. 31, posting four points (one goal, three assists) in 20 games.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Draws back in

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(2/5/18) Aho will play Monday versus Nashville, Mark Herrmann of Newsday reports.

Aho had been a healthy scratch as the Islanders have gone with Dennis Seidenberg in the past two games. Aho wasn't expected to play this big a role with the Islanders this season but injuries to several defenders have caused the Islanders to play their young defensemen more than they would like. He has a goal and assist in eleven games for the Islanders this season. His time with the big club may be coming to an end however as a roster move will need to be made once Johnny Boychuk (lower body) is ready to the team which could come as early as Thursday in Buffalo.

Islanders' Sebastian Aho: Returning to NHL

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/11/18) Aho was summoned from AHL Bridgeport on Thursday.

Aho was sent to Bridgeport during the Islanders' bye week, but has been recalled with the team having four games packed into a six-day period upcoming. He could draw into the lineup somewhere along the line, but the team also has six other healthy bodies on defense. Aho tallied two points (one goal, one assist) in an impressive showing Jan. 7 against the Devils.
