Nick Schneider: Not qualified Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Flames didn't extend Schneider a qualifying offer, so he's scheduled to hit the open market as an unrestricted free agency Friday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.

After suiting up in both the AHL and ECHL, the 23-year-old has yet to suit up in an NHL game in his career. Schneider will look to earn a contract with another minor league club, or head overseas to Europe to find his next team.

Flames' Nick Schneider: Unable to make NHL debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schneider played primarily with WHL Calgary in 2017-18, skating in 61 games and logging a 3.70 GAA and .885 save percentage.

It's now been five seasons that Schneider has primarily played in the WHL, and perhaps he'll be ready to make the jump to the minors next season. Nonetheless, the 20-year-old's still not posted a save percentage over .900 for a season in the juniors, so AHL Stockton may not be comfortable handing over a starting position before he fine tunes his game a bit more.

Flames' Nick Schneider: Summoned to parent club
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schneider was called up from AHL Stockton on Tuesday, TSN reports.

While Schneider technically belonged to the AHL's Heat, all of his service time for the 2017-18 campaign has been spent with the Hitmen of the WHL. It's clear from his 3.70 GAA and .886 save percentage in juniors that the lanky netminder has a ways to go before he'll be taken seriously at hockey's highest level, but Calgary needs a miracle to wind up in the postseason, so it may as well give Schneider the experience of hanging around NHL talent.

Flames' Nick Schneider: Concludes junior career
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Schneider was assigned to AHL Stockton on Monday after completing his season with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL.

The 20-year-old netminder appeared in 61 WHL games this campaign, going 20-29-2 with a 3.64 GAA and .887 save percentage for a Hitmen squad that finished 20th out of 22 teams in the standings. With the Flames already possessing young netminders like David Rittich, Jon Gillies, and Mason McDonald in their system, Schneider will most likely be left in Stockton to develop for the foreseeable future.
