Islanders' Bode Wilde: Reassigned to OHL
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wide was reassigned by the Islanders from AHL Bridgeport to OHL Saginaw on Monday.

Wilde played 20 games for Bridgeport this season, posting zero goals and two assists. They're underwhelming numbers for a defender who will be counted on to generate offense in order to have a successful pro career, but Wilde turned just 20 years of age last month and time is still on his side. Wilde is a major addition for a Saginaw club that currently sits in first place (32-15-2-2) in the OHL's West Division. Wilde posted 19 goals and 70 points in 62 games for the Spirit a season ago.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Makes season debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde (ankle) made his season debut for AHL Bridgeport on Saturday.

Wilde failed to hit the score sheet and finished with a minus-1 rating in his season debut. The 2018 second-rounder had been out of action for several months after originally injuring his ankle over the summer. Wilde is one of the better defensive prospects in the league, but Bridgeport (4-10-3-1) is one of the worst teams in the AHL, so points may be difficult to come by for Wilde in the immediate future. His health is really all that matters at this point. It should also be noted that Wilde is still eligible for the World Juniors this coming holiday season should both the Islanders and the Team USA brass decide to go that route.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Just about ready
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde (ankle) could return to play as soon as Saturday for Bridgeport of the AHL, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

If Wilde is able to play this Saturday, it would be his first game this season. Wilde suffered the injury over the summer and it has been slow to heal. Wilde is unlikely to see any time with the Islanders this season but could be in the mix as soon as next year for a role with the big club.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Almost ready
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde (ankle) is expected to play his first game this season with Bridgeport of the AHL within a week, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

The injury cost Wilde all of training camp and thus a chance to impress the coaching staff. Wilde was the second-round pick for the Islanders in 2018 and wasn't likely to make the team out of training camp even if healthy. Wilde should spend the entire season with Bridgeport and have his first chance to crack the lineup for the Islanders at some point during the 2020-21 season.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Sent to AHL affiliate
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

The Islanders loaned Wilde (ankle) to AHL Bridgeport on Thursday, freelance hockey writer Mark Divver reports.

Wilde has been recovering from an ankle injury for a little over six weeks, which is the only reason he's technically been on the big club's roster this long. The 19-year-old blueliner, who racked up 19 goals and 70 points in 62 games with the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL last season, will likely spend the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign in the minors. He's at least a year or two away from making an impact with the Islanders.

by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde (ankle) has been unable to skate with any consistency during training camp due to his ankle problem, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.

The news all but guarantees Wilde will start the year on non-roster injured reserve. Once cleared to play, the Islanders will decide whether to return him to juniors or move him up to AHL Bridgeport. Regardless, the defenseman is unlikely to log time with the Islanders this year.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Dealing with sprained ankle
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde is currently wearing a walking boot due to a sprained ankle, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

The Islanders' prospect training camp begins Wednesday, so it appears that Wilde likely won't be able to participate in the three-day affair. The 2018 second-round pick will hope to recover in time for New York's main training camp, which will get underway on Sept. 13.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Dominating OHL competition
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde has points in 13 of his last 15 games for OHL Saginaw.

Wilde's hot streak recently led to him being named OHL Defenseman of the Month for December. For the season, the 2018 second-round selection now has 11 goals and 42 points in 34 contests for the Spirit. A world-class talent who is known for his questionable hockey sense, Wilde shockingly slid to the middle of Round 2 this past June and the Islanders quickly snatched him up. Wilde is rewarding their decision. He signed his entry-level contract with the club in early December.

Islanders' Bode Wilde: Inks entry-level deal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Wilde agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with the Islanders on Monday, Brian Compton of reports.

Wilde -- who is playing in his first season in the OHL -- came up through the USA Hockey system, playing for the U18 and U17 national teams over the course of the previous two years. In 21 games for the Saginaw Spirit, the 18-year-old has racked up five goals, 17 assists and 16 PIM. The blueliner will likely spend at least one more year in juniors before making the jump to the professional ranks, but don't be surprised to see him making a push for a roster spot as early as 2020-21.
