Brookbank will begin his coaching career with AHL Rockford, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Brookbank logged just six games for AHL Cleveland this year after returning from playing overseas in the previous two seasons. During his career, the blueliner saw action in 351 NHL games -- most of which came with Anaheim. The 36-year-old was best known for his physical, enforcing style of play, as evident by his 44 career points and 473 PIM.
Brookbank was released by the Ducks from his professional tryout contract Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.Brookbank hadn't logged any minutes in the preseason, so the move doesn't come as much of a surprise. The veteran will likely land an AHL contract somewhere else.
