Kings' Jonathan Quick: Makes 40 saves in loss
Quick stopped 40 of 42 shots Tuesday, getting his team to overtime before taking a 3-2 shootout loss to Minnesota.
Quick stepped up in a big way for the Kings, keeping them in the game long enough to get them a chance to steal a win despite a relentless Minnesota attack. Quick has now topped .950 in three of his past four games, and while it might be too late to save the Kings' season, he's got a lot of useful hockey left in him for your season.... See More ... Kings' Jonathan Quick: Defending cage Tuesday
Quick will patrol the blue paint on the road against the Wild on Tuesday, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Even with no back-to-backs before the All-Star break, it sounds like Quick could still get a night off during the club's three-game road trip. Still, the veteran figures to carry the bulk of the load for the rest of the year, regardless of how well backup Jack Campbell might do.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Alex Iafallo: Pots goal in win
Iafallo netted a goal versus Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Iafallo ended a six-game pointless streak and eight-game goal drought with his tally. The 24-year-old needs just three more points to best his 25 from his rookie campaign.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Brendan Leipsic: Scores goal in upset win
Leipsic notched a goal in Saturday's win over the Penguins.
Since joining the Kings off waivers, Leipsic has tallied two goals, four assists and 29 shots in 19 appearances. With his new club, the winger is averaging 14:13 of ice time -- compared to 12:50 when he was with the Canucks -- and should see more opportunities to write his name on the scoresheet.... Kings' Jeff Carter: Scores goal, two assists
Carter racked up a goal and two helpers against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Carter managed just two points in seven games back from a minor upper-body injury, but went on a tear versus the visiting Penguins and recorded his fifth multi-point effort of the year. With a mere 22 points this season, the 33-year-old won't be getting back to the 60-point threshold, a feat he's achieved six times in his career.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Jake Muzzin: Secures two helpers
Muzzin garnered a pair of assists versus the Penguins on Saturday.
Muzzin may be stuck in an eight-game goal drought, but he has managed five assists over that stretch, along with 19 shots, 19 hits and 18 blocks. Despite averaging 1:37 of power-play ice time in his last 10 outings, the blueliner is pointless with the man advantage.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Anze Kopitar: Scores twice in win
Kopitar registered a pair of goals in Saturday's 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh.
It was the first multi-goal effort for Kopitar this season. The center has five points in his previous five games and seems to be trying to single-handedly pull the Kings up from last in the league in scoring (2.26 goals per game).... See More ... See Less
Kings' Jonathan Quick: Earns victory over Pens
Quick made 38 of a possible 40 saves to secure a win over the visiting Penguins on Saturday.
It was the 301st career victory for Quick, moving him into a tie for third place all-time among U.S. born netminders. The 32-year-old's 38 saves were the most he's made in a game this season. The Kings don't have any back-to-backs on the schedule before the All-Star break, so look for Quick to carry the load in the next four games.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Jonathan Quick: Patrolling crease Saturday
Quick will tend the home twine during Saturday's game versus the Penguins, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Quick sandwiched a 16-save shutout versus the Oilers between two ugly losses in which he allowed a combined nine goals on 59 shots. He draws a red-hot Penguins team, which has won 10 of the last 11 games while averaging 4.27 goals per outing. Quick stands long odds to win this game considering he rarely gets enough offensive support anyway, but he could face enough shots that a stellar outing would still make him fantasy viable.... Kings' Akil Thomas: Strong play in OHL continues
Thomas picked up a hat trick and added an assist in OHL Niagara's 6-3 win over Kingston on Friday.
Thomas' brilliant season continues. The 2018 second-round selection (51st overall) now has 53 points in 35 games for the IceDogs. He also sports a plus-24 rating and is winning nearly 54 percent of his draws. Thomas can play both center and wing, plus he is responsible defensively. Niagara is one of the best teams in the OHL and recently added a pair top prospects in Jason Robertson (DAL) and Jack Studnicka (BOS) to the mix. In other words, Thomas' production should continue for the remainder of the year.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Kyle Clifford: Matches career high in goals
Clifford reached seven goals in a season for the third time with his early marker, but his team fell short in a 4-1 loss to Ottawa on Thursday.
The fact that seven goals is a career high for Clifford tells you all you need to know about him; he's in your lineup if your league counts hits and penalty minutes, and he's not at all useful otherwise.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Jonathan Quick: Struggles with Senators
Quick stopped 23 of 26 shots Thursday and was saddled with a 4-1 loss to Ottawa.
This is becoming a trend for Quick, and not a good one -- he'll play well in one game and give up three or more goals in the next. That's not the consistency the Kings or owners need, and he'll have to be better with Pittsburgh up next.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Alec Martinez: Will return Thursday
Martinez (upper body) will rejoin the lineup Thursday against the Senators, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
Martinez has been sidelined since early December due to an upper-body issue, but it appears he's good to go after logging full participation at morning skate again Thursday. He's slated to pair with Jake Muzzin in his return to the lineup, though it's unclear if Martinez will rejoin the power play. If not, Martinez's prospects, from a fantasy perspective, dim slightly moving forward.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Jonathan Quick: Covering cage at home
Quick will start in goal Thursday night against the visiting Senators, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
Quick sparked an unforgettable performance last Saturday, needing only 16 saves against the Oilers for his 300th career win and second shutout of the season. Now, he'll field shots from a Senators team that ranks 11th in the league offensively and is fresh off Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Ducks.... See More ... See Less
