2018 Winter Olympics Medal Tracker: Russia gets a gold, where Team USA stands

Youth was served in Friday's women's figure skating finale in South Korea, with Alina Zagitova, just 15 years old, winning a gold medal for Russia with a combined score of 239.57, even if Russia can't win gold medals at these Winter Olympics. Evgenia Medvedeva, Zagitova's friend and fiercest rival, settled for the silver (238.26) after both skaters made the judges squirm by turning in near-flawless long programs.

Team USA may be well below its medal forecast for the 2018 Winter Olympics, but it sure hasn't lacked for thrilling gold-medal moments. Shaun White. Chloe Kim. Kikkan Randall and Jessie Diggins. And, now, the United States women's hockey team, which delivered the capper on the most prolific day yet for Team USA on Thursday in South Korea with a thrilling 3-2 shootout win over rival Canada for gold

Goalie Maddie Rooney, just 20 years old, made the save of her life to clinch the victory, earning the United States women their first Olympics gold since the 1998 Olympics. Although it was a thrilling day for the United States, it did feature heartbreak for Lindsey Vonn, who saw her last, best chance to win a gold medal vanish in an instant in the slalom portion of the combined. Mikaela Shiffrin held on for a silver medal -- her second medal of these Olympics -- while Vonn, the last skier to race in the slalom after winning the downhill portion,  hooked a tip around a gate near the top of the course and was out.

Elsewhere, Team USA's David Wise and Alex Ferreira went 1-2 in the men's ski halfpipe final, and Jamie Anderson picked up a silver in a hucking awesome debut for snowboarding big air at the Olympics. It's Anderson's second medal at these Olympics, to go with her gold in slopestyle, and her third overall.

Here's where Team USA currently sits in the medal count:
