It's been a long road, but the Summer Games are here. The event kicked off on Friday, July 23 with the opening ceremony and will run until Sunday, August 8.

The Games will feature 33 sports in 339 events across 42 venues, with multiple sports making their Olympic debut. Karate, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing are all being introduced this year.

The Games were originally scheduled for 2020, but were pushed back a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Still, there are a lot of changes made to the Olympics this year due to the pandemic. Fans are not permitted at events and some athletes have decided to stay in hotels rather than the Olympic Village over safety concerns.
