Olympics 2020 is ramping up, with swimming still making waves, Team USA athletes competing all over Japan, and track and field off and running at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. USA Baseball and the USWNT will be in action Friday morning, heats in the women's 100 meters and the men's 400 hurdles highlight the track events, and Team USA swimming still has plenty of hopes for gold. USA swimmer Michael Andrew is favored to win Thursday night's men's 200 individual medley final, and Caeleb Dressel is the favorite in two more men's events and could be on two more relay teams. Dressel won gold in the men's 100-meter freestyle Wednesday night.

The USA women's soccer team faces the Netherlands in the quarterfinals on Friday at 7 a.m. ET, while the baseball team opens group play against Israel at 6 a.m. ET. Two beach volleyball teams will be on the sand, with the women facing the Dutch on Thursday at 8.p.m. ET and the men taking on Qatar on Friday at 9 a.m. ET. Andrew is the -137 favorite (risk $137 to win $100) for Thursday night's men's 200 individual medley final (10:16 p.m. ET) in William Hill Sportsbook's latest 2020 Tokyo Olympic odds. Dressel is in the men's 100 butterfly semifinals Thursday (9:30 p.m.) and heats for the 50-meter freestyle Friday morning (6 a.m).

Before locking in any 2020 Tokyo Olympics picks or predictions, you need to see what SportsLine Olympics expert Mike Tierney is saying.

A national sportswriter whose work appears in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered nine Olympic Games in person. In the past two Olympic Games, his advice helped those who followed him cash in big, and he already has nailed a huge winner at Tokyo 2020.

Before Sunday's men's triathlon, Tierney tabbed Norway's Kristian Blummenfelt as his choice to win gold, and that bet paid off big at +600. The Olympics expert saw good value in the Norwegian, who had won twice this year and was the 2019 Grand Final champion.

The 27-year-old Blummenfelt was in disbelief as he pulled away from the younger runners in the final stages to win by 11 seconds over Britain's Alex Yee. It is his nation's first medal in the sport, but picking a winner was nothing new for Tierney.

At the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in 2018, he nailed Suzanne Schulting (+2500) of the Netherlands and Norway's Havard Lorentzen (+800) to triumph in speed skating and the USA's Mikaela Shiffrin (+185) to win the giant slalom. Tierney also took the under (10.5) on the Americans' gold-medal count, and that also cashed as the USA came in with nine.

And at the Rio 2016 Summer Games, Tierney told readers to bet over on Team USA's gold medal count (41.5) and over on Team USA's overall medal count (102.5). The result? 46 golds, 121 medals and two easy cashes. Anyone who followed Tierney's advice cashed in huge.

Now, Tierney has been studying the 2020 Tokyo Olympics event schedule and digging down into the individual sports. He has released four confident Olympic best bets for Thursday, and they all have big plus-money payouts. He's sharing those 2020 Olympics picks only at SportsLine.

Top 2020 Tokyo Olympics predictions

A huge shocker: Tierney is calling for Team USA's unblemished run in the 4x100 medley relay to come to an end. The Americans have taken gold every time they have been in it (the U.S. boycotted the 1980 Summer Games). But they already broke their string of medaling in every Olympic relay event when they finished fourth in the 4x200 free relay Tuesday night. That was without Dressel, who helped the team to gold in the 4x100 free on Sunday night.

But Dressel is focused on winning the sprint events and could be mentally drained. He and backstroker Ryan Murphy are a strong pair, but the other nations also have power and depth. That was proven Tuesday night, and the U.S. men's swim team is still in a bit of a transition period.

Previous teams were led by strong personalities like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, and this squad is trying to find that edge. "Team USA's status as the substantial favorite at -200 seems driven largely by history," Tierney tells SportsLine, and he thinks the streak ends here.

How to make 2020 Tokyo Olympics picks

In addition to calling for a surprise in the 4x100 medley relay, Tierney has locked in three other best bets for upcoming Olympic action. All four of these picks return more 3-1, so head to SportsLine and check out what Tierney has to say.
