Team USA was low on highlights in Sunday's 3-point, disappointing win over France. The game was closer than it should have been and the U.S. really hasn't put on much of a show in Rio, even with Klay Thompson's 30-point performance Sunday. But one play may have been the best of the whole men's tournament, as Kyrie Irving, after tripping up on his feet during a fast break, made a falling alley-oop to Kevin Durant that is as good as any you will see:
This alley-oop from @KyrieIrving to @KDTrey5 should get a #gold medal all by itself: https://t.co/TPba4R9sVqhttps://t.co/NUqS1r0bDS— NBC Olympics (@NBCOlympics) August 14, 2016
Just a phenomenal play by two of the best athletes in the world. Team USA needs more of that as they head to quarterfinal play advancing towars the medal round beginning Wednesday. With the 97-94 victory over France, Team USA clinched the top seed in the quarterfinals. They remain heavy favorites to bring home the gold medal.
