Winter Olympics 2018: French skier Kevin Rolland suffers brutal slam in halfpipe

There have been some gnarly wrecks on the slopes in Pyeongchang during these Winter Olympics, but the worst may have come during NBC's live broadcast on Wednesday night during the men's ski halfpipe competition. French skier Kevin Rolland took a nasty spill in the pipe during one of his runs and it was tough to watch. 

Rolland came down on top pipe and split the lip, taking a brunt of the contact in .. well, an area in which you do not want to take the brunt of collision.

Somehow, some way, Rolland was able to ski off under his own power after that crash. That alone should earn him a medal.

The Frenchman wasn't the only competitor to take a heavy slam on Wednesday night, either. Team USA's Torin Yater-Wallace took a very hard spill of his own and, luckily, he too was able to walk away without serious injury.
