Winter Olympics 2018: TV channel, stream as USA curling play Sweden for gold

USA curling has done the unthinkable. After starting the round robin 2-4, it looked like Team Shuster was dead-to-rights, needing tiebreakers and to win out in order to get into medal play.

However, the U.S. stormed back to beat Canada for the first time in team history, Switzerland in the following match and Great Britain the match after. It was a dominant run for Shuster's team, and the USA defeated Canada again on Thursday to advance to the gold medal game.

Even more impressive is the fact that the U.S. managed to get in without requiring a tiebreaker. Instead, Switzerland and Great Britain required a tiebreaker to get into fourth place and play in the medal round. Although Switzerland advanced, it lost to Sweden.

Team Shuster's first win over Canada came after a loss to Japan in an 8-2 rout. At that point, it didn't seem like it would even be able to sneak in. So it didn't. It kicked the door down instead.

As for Team Shuster? It is pumped, and it wants everyone to know about it. Don't believe me? Look at these guys on Twitter. They're here, and they back to no one. Especially Kirstie Alley.

Seriously, this is insane. To beat Canada, Switzerland and Great Britain -- all medal-caliber teams -- in four consecutive games is insane. This team willed itself to the medal round, plain and simple. And it beat Canada. Now, it will be against 8-2 Sweden, who have been dominant.

They won, and they're playing Sweden for the gold medal. This team being 6-4 is monumental. And if you're wondering, the last (and only time) Team USA medaled in curling was in Turin in 2006, when Pete Fenson was the skip. These Games will guarantee the USA's best ever medal in curling.

I don't know how many ways to say it. This is a big deal people!

Curling hasn't gotten a lot of attention these Games, but it's getting it now. And deservedly so. Team Shuster has the chance to do something extraordinary. Sweden has been utterly dominant in these Games, and this win would be massive. The U.S. was able to beat Canada twice, and it came down to the last rock both times. Now, it will hope to replicate the feat against the best in these Games.

Don't forget to brush up on curling terms before you watch. There's a quiz after the semifinal round.
