According to the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, the 2016 MLS champs aren't the odds-on favorite to repeat in 2017, and neither is runner-up Toronto FC. In fact, per the odds published by from Bovada on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Galaxy are the favorites to win the 2017 MLS Cup with 11-2 odds.

The Seattle Sounders, reigning champs, are fourth on the list at 7-1, while Toronto FC winds up sixth at 11-1. Here are all the odds for MLS clubs, minus the two expansion teams, Atlanta United and Minnesota United.

2017 MLS championship odds

  • LA Galaxy 11-2
  • NY Red Bulls 6-1
  • New York City FC 6-1
  • Seattle Sounders FC 7-1
  • Colorado Rapids 10-1
  • Toronto FC 11-1
  • FC Dallas 12-1
  • Real Salt Lake 12-1
  • Sporting Kansas City 12-1
  • Vancouver Whitecaps 14-1
  • Montreal Impact 14-1
  • Portland Timbers 20-1
  • Columbus Crew 25-1
  • DC United 25-1
  • Houston Dynamo 25-1
  • Orlando City 25-1

It's a bit of a surprise to see the Galaxy at the top. The club has a new coach in Curt Onalfo after losing Bruce Arena to the USMNT. That's enough of a reason to expect them to finish lower than champions. Could it be the addition of Jermaine Jones in the midfield? Hard to imagine a 35-year-old making much of a difference, either. Also, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane are both gone. Maybe the oddsmakers are expecting some big signings to push the big market club over the top?

I would have expected the top three to be Seattle, Toronto and New York Red Bulls in no particular order. We'll have to see if the Galaxy can make some moves to warrant those odds with the offseason having just begun.
