The Bundesliga is set to return on May 16 with nine or 10 games remaining on the calendar for each club. That means one were just days away from being able to watch one of the big five European leagues resume action following the coronavirus hiatus. Bayern Munich is leading the table with 55 points as rival Borussia Dortmund sits four points behind. For a look at the Bundesliga table, click here. The first weekend of action features what should be a cracking showdown between Dortmund and Schalke in the Revierderby. For a look at the full Bundesliga schedule and start times, click here.

Five matches are on the schedule for that Saturday, with two on Sunday and one on Monday.

Bayern Munich goes to Union Berlin as the massive favorite to walk away with all three points and continue to maintain or potentially build on its lead over Dortmund.

Numerous American players are expected to be in action, but one that will surely miss is goalkeeper Zach Steffen of Fortuna Dusseldorf, who injured his knee in training at the end of last month. Sources told CBS Sports he would be out for 4-6 weeks with his team in the battle for survival.
