It should come as no surprise that the Champions League and Europa League are following the trend of nearly every sports league around the world and completely changing the way they are operating in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. The latest example of this will arrive in the upcoming draws for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of each tournament.

When is the draw?

The draw itself is taking place on Friday, July 10, from UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, at 6 a.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ and CBS Sports Network. The Champions League draw will start at 6 a.m. and the Europa League draw will take place at 7 a.m. ET. Follow live updates here.

How the Champions League and Europa League draw will work?

For the Champions League, 12 teams will be involved in the process.  Atalanta, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain have already qualified to the quarterfinals, but the following Round of 16 matchups still need to be completed: Real Madrid vs. Manchester City; Lyon vs. Juventus; Napoli vs. Barcelona; Chelsea vs. Bayern Munich. The four remaining Round of 16 second legs will take place at the home teams' stadiums (Juventus, Man City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona) on Friday, Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug. 8.

As for Europa League, the six remaining Round of 16 second legs will take place at the home teams' stadiums on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Thursday, Aug. 6: Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Wolfsburg (2-1); Leverkusen vs. Rangers (3-1); Wolves vs. Olympiacos (1-1); Manchester United vs. LASK (5-0); Basel vs. Frankfurt (3-0); Copenhagen vs. Istanbul Basaksehir (0-1). Meanwhile, Inter Milan vs. Getafe and Sevilla vs. Roma never got a chance to play their first leg, and will now be played in a single game in Germany.

Rather than wait for the remaining Round of 16 matches to be played out, there will be a draw for the quarterfinals, semifinals and to formally determine who will be the designated home team. Both competitions will be played at a neutral venue from the quarterfinals on (more on that below). Friday's draw will essentially give us a bracketed path to the final for both competitions.

Where will these matches be played?

As for the locations of these games, they will be split between Benfica's Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, which hosts the final, and Sporting CP's Estádio José Alvalade for the Champions League. Stadion Köln in Cologne, which will host the other tournament's final, MSV Arena in Duisburg, Dusseldorf Arena in Düsseldorf and Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen will be used for the Europa League. In both tournaments, each round will be a single-elimination matchup.
