Liverpool is looking to make a statement Sunday when it visits Old Trafford to face rival Manchester United in an English Premier League match. Liverpool (5-3-0) is the only league team without a loss this season and is unbeaten in 12 matches in all competitions. United (4-2-2) has struggled in recent weeks, taking just one of a possible nine points in its past three league matches to slide to sixth in the EPL table. Manchester United is desperate to get a result in a matchup that typically plays a big role in determining the league champion. It is one of the world's biggest rivalries and has been contested since 1894, with Manchester United holding an 89-68-78 advantage all-time. Six of the last 10 league matchups have ended in draws, with Liverpool winning three.

Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. ET in Manchester, England. Caesars Sportsbook lists Liverpool as the +128 favorite (risk $100 to win $128) in its latest Manchester United vs. Liverpool odds, with United the +200 underdog. Why you should back Liverpool

The Reds are 9-2-0 in their last 11 league matches on the road, including a 4-2 win at Old Trafford in the most recent matchup in May. They had eight shots on target in the match, and Roberto Firmino had two goals and Mohamed Salah closed the scoring. Salah has been on fire this season, scoring in nine straight in all competitions and posting seven goals and four assists in league play. Liverpool has at least three goals in eight of their past nine, and Manchester United has not posted a clean sheet in its past nine. Liverpool has scored 22 league goals and conceded six.

Sadio Mane (five goals) and Firmino (four) also are lighting it up, and Manchester United is struggling mightily on the back line with Raphael Varane out. Victor Lindelof has not picked up the slack alongside Harry Maguire, and goalkeeper David de Gea has appeared vulnerable at times. Liverpool's defense, meanwhile, is in good hands with Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip keeping shots away from elite goalkeeper Alisson. The Reds have allowed just 22 shots on net, third-fewest in the league, while the Liverpool attack has put 53 on target to lead the EPL.

Why you should back Manchester United

The Red Devils should have some confidence after rallying for a 3-2 win against Atalanta in the Champions League. They could be playing for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's future, and the Old Trafford crowd will be boisterous for this rivalry match. The back line has been an issue, but United has scored 16 goals. Bruno Fernandes (four goals) and Cristiano Ronaldo (three in five games) are among the world's best finishers. Liverpool has conceded multiple goals in three of the past five, and Manchester United has put 33.6 percent of its shots on target, third-most in the league.

Ronaldo scored the game-winner against Atalanta, and Marcus Rashford also tallied in the second-half comeback before taking a minor knock. Solskjaer is optimistic he will be ready Sunday, and the manager can also turn to Mason Greenwood, who is tied for the team lead with four goals. Paul Pogba leads the Premier League with seven assists, and will likely be joined in the midfield by Scott McTominay with Fred expected to miss out.
