The National Women's Soccer League's Challenge Cup begins later this month, and we are just weeks away from live team sports returning in the United States. Games will take place in Utah without fans, and some of the world's biggest stars will compete for the first ever Challenge Cup trophy. The draw to determine the slots took place live on CBS Sports HQ Monday, and you can find all the details here.

The odds for the nine-team competition are now out via William Hill Sports Book. Here they are along with three teams to keep an eye on:

  • North Carolina Courage +160
  • Chicago Red Stars +300
  • Portland Thorns +500
  • OL Reign +600
  • Utah Royals +800
  • Washington Spirit +1000
  • Houston Dash +1000
  • Sky Blue FC +3000
  • Orlando Pride +4000

Courage (+160)

As expected, the Courage are the odds-on favorites to win the competition. How could they not be after back-to-back NWSL titles? With a top-tier defense that allowed a league-low 23 goals last season and an attack that scored 13 more goals than any other club, expect the Lynn Williams and Kristen Hamilton-led attack to once again have this team competing for a title. Ally Watt, a 23-year-old striker who scored 49 goals in 90 matches for Texas A&M, already has a little pro experience in a short stint with Melbourne City in Australia and could deliver big as well.

Chicago Red Stars (+300)

Not the greatest value here for the Red Stars when you consider that they lost superstar Sam Kerr (18 goals) in the offseason. Yuki Nagasato can bring in double digit goals, but her assist production (eight assists) is likely to go down with Kerr gone. There are teams with much better value to be had despite this team's strong core.

Sky Blue FC (+3000)

There could be some really good value here with Sky Blue FC, led by Carli Lloyd. OL Reign's Allie Long said on CBS Sports HQ on Monday that the team has some great players and really made some strong additions in the offseason, and she isn't wrong. Combine a strong, young roster with Carli Lloyd in a tournament format where anything can happen, and there could be some potential here.
