No team has won more UEFA Champions League trophies than Real Madrid who has 13 titles. But the Spanish giant was upset in September by Sheriff Tiraspol, who is making its first ever group stage UCL appearance. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET from Bolshaya Sportivnaya Arena in Tiraspol. UEFA Champions League picks for Real Madrid vs. Sheriff Tiraspol

Before you tune in to Wednesday's match, you need to see the Real Madrid vs. Sheriff Tiraspol picks from SportsLine's proprietary European soccer model. Created by two Norwegians -- professional poker player and sports bettor Jonas Gjelstad, and economics and engineering expert Marius Norheim -- the model analyzes worldwide betting data and exploits market inefficiencies, helping its followers cash in. Since coming to SportsLine last year, the algorithm is up over $8,500.

For Real Madrid vs. Sheriff Tiraspol, the model is leaning over 3.5 goals. Since losing to Sheriff in September, Real Madrid has had a pair of high-scoring Champions League affairs. Eight total goals have been scored in its ensuing UCL games or an average of four per match.

The scoreboard is also being lit up in Real Madrid's domestic games entering Wednesday's matchup. Over its last three La Liga contests, Real Madrid has scored multiple goals in each while also allowing a goal in each. The club has seen an average of 3.7 total goals scored over that stretch with six different players scoring over the last three games.

Meanwhile, the goals tally is trending upwards for Sheriff in the Champions League. Two goals were scored in its first UCL group match and then three were scored in its upset of Real Madrid. But four goals have been scored in their two Champions League matches since then. The soccer model predicts another four goals being scored on Wednesday, so it confidently says to back the over (3.5).
