Bundesliga returned to action Saturday after a two-month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic. As usual, the German league gives us a chance to catch plenty of Americans players overseas, including key members of the United States men's national team. Five Americans were expected to play on Saturday in the six Bundesliga games scheduled as part of Matchday 26, but only four played and only one was on a team that got a decent result. Here's a rundown of the American performances in the Bundesliga on Saturday:

Gio Reyna, Borussia Dortmund

This was the story of the day in American soccer with the 17-year-old attacking midfielder/winger announced as a starter for the first time in his pro career, only to be scratched late after an injury during warmups. Sources tell CBS Sports that it's a leg muscle injury, but there isn't a concern of it being serious. He'll be evaluated in the coming days, but what an unfortunate turn of events after all the excitement that was built with him being in the initial starting 11.

Weston McKennie, Schalke

McKennie played all 90 minutes for Schalke in the 4-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund, and he was often left in no-man's land with his team pushing forward and only playing with three in the back. Check out McKennie (No. 2) in this clip being forced to recover as Dortmund scores:

He had some solid passes and defensive moments, but Dortmund was just too strong and overpowered the visitors for much of the 90 minutes. A game he'll want to quickly forget.

Tyler Adams, RB Leipzig

Adams played 69 minutes for RB Leipzig in the poor 1-1 home draw with Freiburg, and he didn't look very comfortable at all. He's been dealing with injuries as of late, the latest a calf strain in February before play was stopped. His club was expected to win, but they lacked sharpness and had to get a late goal just to earn a point. RB Leipzig slipped from third place to fourth with the draw combined with Borussia Monchengladbach's win at Eintracht Frankfurt.

John Brooks

Brooks played all 90 minutes for Wolfsburg in the 2-1 win at Augsburg. The Wolves jumped into sixth place and currently occupy a Europa League qualification spot. His team allowed just six total shots and three on goal, and they've allowed only three goals in the last four games. Brooks had a 92-percent pass completion out of the back, had a couple quality tackles, a good interception of the ball and was particularly sharp on playing long balls forward. He was initially charged with an own goal but it was later changed.

Timmy Chandler

Chandler played 16 minutes for Eintracht in the 3-1 loss, coming in for Stefan Illsanker. He did have a few chances to make an impact in attack, but his team was down 3-0 at the time. Twice he came down the left towards the corner of the box, with his first cross missing badly before playing a second ball to the feet of his attackers, though they did nothing with it.
