Chelsea and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner agreed to personal terms on a five-year deal, subject to a physical, the Blues announced on Thursday. Werner, 24, will join the team at the end of the Bundesliga season next month, which means he will not be playing for Leipzig in August during the Champions League quarterfinal in Lisbon, Portugal.

Chelsea will pay €50 million ($56.13 million) to RB Leipzig as final fee to pluck him out of Germany before the Champions League is over, according to Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sports. He is Chelsea's second signing for next season after the Blues completed a $46 million deal for Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech back in February. And he's probably not the last. That's because Romano is reporting that Chelsea is looking to sign a left back, possibly Ben Chilwell of Leicester City.

Werner opened up about the move, via Chelsea's press release:

"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club. I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart. I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us."

And on Twitter:

Werner is in the midst of his best season in Germany, as he's found the back of the net 32 times and notched 13 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions. Twenty-six of those 32 goals have come in 32 Bundesliga matches. In fact, he scored on Wednesday in a 2-2 draw to Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Werner spent his first four seasons of pro ball in the Stuttgart system, including three with the senior club, before joining RB Leipzig before the start of the 2016-17 season. In four seasons with Leipzig, Werner scored 76 goals and registered 27 assists in 125 appearances in all competitions.
