What didn't seem like it would be an eventful deadline day had fireworks from start to finish as Manchester City secured Nico Gonzalez to bolster their midfield and Milan shook up the entire squad. Santiago Gimenez joined from Feyenoord, Joao Felix is expected to be announced as well on loan from Chelsea while Noah Okafor left for Napoli days after Alvaro Morata joined Galatasaray, among other moves. Major League Soccer also made headlines with Cucho Hernandez leaving the Columbus Crew for Real Betis in a club-record $16 million sale and Emmanuel Latte Lath reportedly joining Atlanta United for an MLS-record $22 million fee. Moves like these show where the league is heading but there was plenty going on elsewhere.

Tottenham won the Mathys Tel sweepstakes by signing the young forward on loan with an option to buy showing that no transfer is complete until the ink has dried. Ben Chilwell will get a chance to impress at Crystal Palace after being frozen out of the Chelsea squad, and in the end, it was an eventful day with clubs around the world getting signings done but England and Italy led the way.

There could be a few late deals completed as two deal sheets are in the balance, but it's writing utensils down for most of the world. The only notable deal that could be late is Willian returning to Fulham. The Cottagers have more time due to him being a free agent.

Done deal: Cucho Hernandez to Real Betis

The Columbus Crew now have quite a hole to fill in their attack but with $16 million to help do it and plenty of time left before the MLS window slams shut, they'll have time to do it. Cucho is back to a top five league where he'll also be involved in Europa Conference League play.

Cutting it close

Cucho Hernandez is on the move back to La Liga according to Tom Bogert. After a successful spell with the Columbus Crew, the Colombian forward will now move on to his next challenge, scoring as many goals as possible for Real Betis. It's a successful story for Major League Soccer as Cucho pushes for Colombia's squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Just avoiding a deal sheet

Nico Gonzalez to Manchester City from Porto has been close all day as they've agreed to a fee of €60 million and according to reports, his contract has been signed and will be valid until June of 2029. City is also teasing the signing so it's safe to say this is just about done.

Tel to Tottenham is almost complete

It's a deal that has been all over the place but according to the Athletic, there is now an agreement between Tottenham and Bayern Munich with a loan and an option to buy for the 19-year-old forward. The option will be priced at €55 million and see him sign a six year contract if it is triggered giving Tottenham every reason to want to get the best out of the young forward. Teenagers Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall have already played large roles for Spurs this season and Tel could be the latest of a budding crop of stars at the club.

A new MLS record signing is incoming

Atlanta United has already had a busy winter bringing Miguel Almiron back from Newcastle United but they'll now broken the league transfer record by signing forward Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough according to Tom Bogert. In a deal that will cost $22 million, it's quite a fee but the forward has 27 goals over the last few seasons there's no reason to believe that he won't score plenty of goals in Major League Soccer, especially with such an ambitious club.

Balotelli back to Monza?

Another signing for AC Milan

Willian returns

While he was on the verge of a comeback to the Cottagers, the free transfer is now official as they prepare for a streach run in the Premier League. It's about more than goals in his return as this will be a good depth move.

Done deal: Fagioli to Fiorentina

Juventus and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nicolo Fagioli, who leaves the Bianconeri for around $15 million between the loan and the option to buy included in the deal. Fagioli is now set to start a new adventure in the Italian Serie A.

Willian's Premier League comeback?

Multiple reports have linked Willian to a move to Fulham, less than a year after leaving the Premier League club. The 36-year-old only scored 10 goals in 67 games in two seasons at Craven Cottage, but it appears the Cottagers are happy to make room for him as they continue their quest to qualify for European competition next season. Important to remember here -- Olympiacos terminated Willian's deal in December, so he's a free agent and Fulham can work on this deal even after the window closes.

Chilwell nears Palace move

After entering Chelsea purgatory in the summer, Ben Chilwell looks to be on his way out. He's getting closer to a loan to Crystal Palace, where he will likely get some real playing time after playing just one game for Chelsea so far this season.

Tel to Tottenham update

Small note on the deal that will see Mathys Tel join Tottenham Hotspur on loan from Bayern Munich -- the Evening Standard reports that there will be an option to buy, which was something Bayern reportedly preferred throughout this transfer saga. Spurs expect the deal to go through before the deadline in about two hours.

Disasi on his way to Villa

That explains why Axel Disasi's move to Spurs is off -- he's about to join Aston Villa instead, per Fabrizio Romano. Villa matched Tottenham's loan fee and it appears they were the player's preference, making today a surprisingly busy day for Unai Emery's side.

Disasi isn't Spurs-bound

Sky Sports reports that Chelsea center back Axel Disasi will not be on his way to Tottenham Hotspur. We'll see if Spurs can land a center back by the time the window closes in less than three hours -- they could use the help back there and have been linked to a couple of different players, but it looks like yesterday's signing of Kevin Danso could be it in that category.

Tottenham's center back search

If it seemed weird that Tottenham are hoping to sign a second center back in as many days, there now appears to be a reasonable expectation -- news just broke that Radu Dragusin tore his ACL in Thursday's Europa League win against Elfsborg, and he will now be out for the rest of the season. Dragusin is normally Spurs' third choice center back but with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven missing much of the season so far, Dragusin has been the starter for the last few months.

Even with van de Ven now back in the mix, Spurs are still pretty depleted in the back -- Ben Davies usually slots in when fit and teenager Archie Gray has played a lot of minutes at center back, but he isn't actually a natural in that postition.

Asensio joins Aston Villa

Champions League winner Marco Asensio just joined Aston Villa from Paris Saint-Germain, giving the English side another option in attack. It's been a big few days for them in terms of comings and goings -- Jhon Duran split for Al-Nassr on a big money deal last week but between signing Marcus Rashford and Asensio, manager Unai Emery has some new options for the rest of the season.

Official: Zaniolo to Fiorentina

Bennacer leaves AC Milan

Ismael Bennacer leaves AC Milan and joins Olympique Marseille as the French side will pay around $12 million between the loan and the option to buy the Algerian midfielder permanently at the end of the current season. The Rossoneri will replace Bennacer with Warren Bondo who is set to join AC Milan from Monza.

Okafor to join Napoli

Swiss striker Noah Okafor will leave AC Milan and will join Napoli on loan with option to buy. The former RB Salzburg winger failed to pass the medical tests with RB Leipzig earlier this year but it didn't prevent Napoli to make a last minute signing to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined PSG in the January transfer window.

AS Roma also active

The Giallorossi, after AC Milan, are probably the most active side in the Italian Serie A as the side coached by Claudio Ranieri have sealed the deal for Anass Salah-Eddine from Twente for around €8 million and also for midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from RB Salzburg while they are in talks with Fiorentina for Italian midfielder Bryan Cristante, who might join La Viola if the side coached by Raffaele Palladino won't be able to sign Nicolo Fagioli from Juventus.
