UEFA held its Europa League group stage draw at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday. Guest drawer Ciro Ferrara helped select teams from the four group pots to determine the 12 ways the 48 clubs would be separated for the group stage of the competition, which begins Oct. 22
While there are no immediate eye-catching affairs in the groups, what this situation does is open up the opportunity for other clubs with less name recognition to potentially make noise. Most groups only have one notable favorite, meaning that the remaining three will be battling for a coveted knockout spot -- and even with the favoritism, there's absolutely no guarantee that the big name club will go through.
As for those some of those big names (read as: Premier League clubs), Arsenal shares a group with SK Rapid Wien (Austria), Molde FK (Norway) and Dundalk FC (Ireland). Leicester City will go up against SC Braga (Portugal), AEK Athens FC (Greece) and FC Zorya Luhansk (Ukraine). Tottenham is grouped with PFC Ludogorets 1945 (Bulgaria), LASK (Austria) and Royal Antwerp FC (Belgium).
Just like every year, the top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage, where teams eliminated in the Champions League group stage will come in. Below you'll find the full results, along with commentary and analysis in real-time:
