It was announced just last week that USMNT star Clint Dempsey would miss the rest of the MLS season with the Seattle Sounders due to his irregular heartbeat condition. But it still wasn't 100 percent clear as to whether he would play for the U.S. in November's World Cup Qualifying matches, which includes a clash against rival Mexico on Nov. 11 to kick off the hexagonal play.

According to ESPNFC, USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann said he is hopeful to have Dempsey back in camp in January, pretty much cementing his status for next month's games.

"We follow 100 percent the advice and direction of the Sounders and their decision to kind of rest [Dempsey] for the rest of the season," Klinsmann said.

"Then [we] get it all cleared by the medical staff there. We're very positive about having him back, and then hopefully in the January camp, and then take it one step at a time. There is still a lot of positive thoughts about Clint coming back to us."

Obviously whenever a medical situation like this happens, health becomes the priority over soccer. Hopefully he's healthy enough to make his return to camp in January. As far as U.S. squad goes, it is a blow, as he would have likely started in attack. Now, Klinsmann has to see what lineup he wants to use in attack, which we could get a little preview of this week as the U.S. travels to Cuba for a friendly on Friday.

Dempsey was the top scorer at the 2015 Gold Cup and led the U.S. in scoring at the 2016 Copa America.
