PHOTO: Klinsmann's board appears to show pre-WC match vs. Belgium
A white board that features the USMNT schedule for the upcoming month seems to show a friendly match against Belgium.
We all know the ever-importance of white boards. They never lie, never misrepresent, and always ooze with context.
With that being said, did ESPN’s Doug McIntyre spot a previously unreported friendly for the USMNT ahead of their World Cup campaign in Brazil?
On the left side of the board, you can clearly see the friendlies scheduled for the other teams in Group G (Ghana, Portugal, and Germany).
On the right side, you can see that the US is scheduled to play Azerbaijan on May 29, Turkey on June 1, and Nigeria in Jacksonville on June 7. All those dates had been previously reported. But what’s going on on June 12?
According to Klinsmann’s white board, the USMNT will take on Belgium, easily one of the most-talked about sleepers ahead of the World Cup, a mere four days before the tournament starts.
Is it a fluke? Isn’t that a little too close to when the US will open up against Ghana on June 16? Would it be televised? More context, white board.
If it does indeed take place, Grant Wahl said he "suspects it would be closed-door, perhaps." Okay, then.
